JOB OVERVIEW:
This position isresponsible for managing and developing our expertise in the productcategories. Responsible for developing plans that will result in increasedsales, market share and/or profitability. Responsibilities include categoryanalysis, strategy development, supplier profitability and contribution,category maintenance and new product launches. With direction from manager,negotiate supplier distribution agreements, and determine new supplier and/oritem setups. Responsible for updating and taking guidance from managerregarding development of team members and larger objectives.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
* CATEGORY MANAGEMENT: Accountable for all activities surrounding performance of thecategories for which they are responsible. This includes sales and market shareanalysis, identifying underperforming categories, developing plans and programsto drive sales and market share in both branded and private brand products.Provide strategic guidance on brand and private brand product additions andline extensions. Manages relationships, with oversight from manager, with keymanufacturer partners of Henry Schein Medical including Partnership programparticipation, National Sales Meeting attendance, price negotiations, end useroffers, and sales rep incentive programs. Builds marketing, advertisingand business plans with manufacturer partners for mutual growth andsuccess. Serves as the main point of contact for the manufacturer.
* NEW PRODUCT ACTIVITIES: Oversees the process of all new product submissions. Reviewsinformation provided by PC Associate and/or Specialist to ensure all necessaryinformation is obtained from the supplier to facilitate a timely review.Determines which products will be accepted and/or rejected. Determines pricing,forecast and opening order quantities. Oversees process of new item codecreation, web attributes and descriptions and development of catalog copy.Ensure the accurate onboarding of new supplier business and regulatoryterms. Works closely with suppliers to develop a promotional plan tosupport a successful launch.
* CURRENT PRODUCT LINE MANAGEMENT: Determine products andpricing to be featured in all channel media for respective product categoriesand work with Associate and/or Specialist to produce layout and pricing spreadsheets. With direction from manager, negotiates buying deals with suppliers andoversees proper communication and implementation to Inventory Management.Performs review of marketing product classifications and item descriptions toensure the integrity of product content. Accountable for A-system and/orecommerce classifications, item descriptions and images to ensure the integrityof product content. Manages and accountable for the SKU Optimization and thenon-saleable pool resolution process.
* CHANNEL MARKETING: Oversees layout and presentation for respective categories inall channel media and marketing platforms within established deadlines.Accountable for all issue resolution in this process.
* BUSINESS ACUMEN: Understanding of P&L and financial metrics. Ability to helpmake decisions that support the overall business strategy.
* OTHER: Participates in special projects and performs other duties asrequired. Provides guidance to associates and/or specialists to support allactivities.
SCOPE:
Typically manageprofessional staff within a section(s) of a department, a small department ormultiple smaller processes. Focus primarily on the job and not supervisingday-to-day activities. Responsible for meeting the operating objectives of thedepartment. Provide direction to staff within the latitude of establishedcompany policies. Determine how to use resources to meet schedules and goals.Management moderately reviews work on non-routine issues and situations tomeasure meeting of objectives.
Qualification
MINIMUM WORK EXPERIENCE:
Typically 7 or more yearsof increasing responsibility and complexity in terms of any applicableprofessional experience; first-level manager.
PREFERRED EDUCATION:
Typically a BachelorsDegree or global equivalent in related discipline. Masters degree or globalequivalent a plus.
