Facebook is looking for a policy expert with privacy and legislative experience to join our Privacy & Data Policy team. The team's mission is to develop privacy-protective and innovative approaches to data that help bring the world closer together and improve people's lives. The ideal candidate for this role has significant experience analyzing legislation and discerning and presenting policy trends. They should also have strong skills, both in drafting succinct analyses for internal audiences, as well as persuasive public submissions to industry groups, policymakers, and regulators. Candidates should be creative thinkers who are interested in developing novel approaches to policy challenges. They should also have good instincts about effective ways to create support for policy proposals among a diverse range of stakeholders. Candidates should be able to lead projects independently and with minimal direction, particularly in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment with colleagues around the world. They should be familiar with online consumer services, and be passionate about the services we provide and the people that we serve. Privacy Policy Manager, Legislation Responsibilities
* Track policy and legislative trends related to privacy and data use
* Work closely with cross-functional global teams on legislative advocacy, including strategically drafting submissions for local policy audiences
* Synthesize legislative developments for internal audiences and clearly explain the likely impacts of such developments on Facebooks products
* Drive development-internally and through external research-of Facebooks policy positions on novel issues
* Develop content for global audiences to further FBs legislative and policy positions (e.g., op-eds, position papers, etc.)
Minimum Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree
* 5+ years of experience working in on privacy and data protection issues
* Knowledge of privacy policy issues and trends
* Experience navigating dynamic work environments and prioritizing multiple simultaneous projects
* Knowledge of and interest in emerging technologies and devices and of Facebook products
Preferred Qualifications
* Ph.D, JD, or other advanced degree
* Fluency in Spanish or French
* Published material related to privacy policy or legislative issues
