Location: Kettleman City, CA

Some Basic Requirements:

* 6+ years experience repairing and maintaining landfill specific heavy equipment such as excavators, dozers, compactors, graders, ADTs, backhoe & scrapers
* Experience repairing diesel trucks, rolloff trucks and fleet pick up trucks
* Possess skills in operating tools, equipment, parts and procedures in dealing with yellow iron repairs
* Experience with Computer Diagnostics
* Basic welding knowledge and experience
* Experience with hydraulics & electrical repairs
* Own your own tools
* Valid Driver's License
* At least 18 years of age and legally eligible to work in the United States

I. Job Summary
Performs preventive maintenance inspection (PMI); troubleshoots, repairs, and rebuilds major components on vehicles and equipment. Ensures accurate diagnosis and effective repair and/or replacement of components. May provide guidance and training along with assisting other Technicians as directed by the Fleet Manager.

II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other minor duties may be assigned.

* Performs preventive maintenance inspections and ensures the timely and effective repair of any problems identified during an inspection.
* Performs proficient inspection, diagnosis and moderately complex repair of assigned vehicles and equipment.
* Provides assistance, guidance and direction to other maintenance personnel.
* Utilizes vehicle computer electronics systems to interpret failure modes to initiate or assign repairs.
* Estimates time and material costs on repairs and requisitions new parts.
* Advises supervisor immediately if additional work is needed or if repairs cannot be completed within the Standard Repair Times (SRTs).
* Inspects the quality of outside/supplier repairs and or rebuilds. Assesses structural damage and assigns needed repairs utilizing the most appropriate method(s).
* Performs service calls for emergency breakdowns.
* Conducts safety checks on vehicles. Performs maintenance related work as required.
* In the absence of supervision may provide maintenance supervisory duties.
* Maintains a clean, safe work area in compliance with Corporate/OSHA Standards, and performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
* Extensive Travel (minimum of 40 - 47 weeks per year)
* Ability to work on night shifts, when business needs so require

IV. Qualifications
The requirements listed below are representative of the qualifications necessary to perform the job.

A. Education and Experience

* Education: High school diploma or G.E.D (accredited).
* Experience: Four years of relevant work experience (in addition to education requirement).

B. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations or Other Requirements

* Required: Valid drivers license, CDL license (or ability to obtain within ninety (90) days)
* 3 or more ASE Certifications (or the equivalent) among the following:
* Brakes (T4 ASE)
* Drive Train (T3 ASE)
* Heat/Vent/AC (T3 ASE)
* Steering Suspension (T5 ASE)
* Elec/Electronic (T6 ASE)
* PMI (T8 ASE)
* Diesel Engines (T2 ASE)
* Natural Gas (F1 ASE)
* Must also become certified in the following within three (3) weeks of hire): Hydraulics (WMI Class); Transmission (WMI Class), Heavy Equipment (WMI Class)

C. Other Knowledge, Skills or Abilities Required

* Skill in operating tools equipment, parts and procedures utilized during the repair and servicing of vehicles and equipment, skill in repair of special purpose equipment, ability to effectively communicate needed repairs or tasks, ability to diagnose defects in and repair a variety of equipment and vehicles, ability to utilize fleet maintenance software program, and knowledge of Total Tire Maintenance Program may be required.

I. Job Summary
Performs complex preventative maintenance tasks, and troubleshoots and repairs a wide variety of equipment (Trucks and Yellow Iron).

II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

* Repairs as needed equipment (including, but not limited to, bulldozers, scrapers, backhoes, front end loaders, yard trucks, farm tractors, forklifts, and company cars).
* Diagnoses and repairs differentials, hydraulic systems, motors, transmissions, drives, air conditioning systems, and electrical systems.
* Performs tasks per preventative maintenance checklist.
* Completes records such as work orders, card files, P.M. checklists, and oil samples.
* Services and maintains other equipment such as light plants, water pump, welders, and other equipment.
* Reference site-specific procedures and more detailed site-specific job descriptions.
* Performing other duties as assigned.
