Summary:
Under direct supervision, designs precision electromechanical switches and switch matrix products to customer specifications and provides technical support to Project Engineers, Supply Chain, and Quality Assurance personnel requiring engineering knowledge.
Typical Responsibilities:
* Performs research and development on new products and examines cost reduction opportunities on existing items in production.
* Performs theoretical mechanical modeling analysis for thermal and structural stress, and tolerance analysis on new or modified products to meet customer specifications.
* Defines and monitors environmental tests and evaluates test results
* Assists with project costing and schedule development
* Creates detail part drawings per ANSI Y 14.5M-2009.
* Conducts design reviews and oversee documentation release process.
* Assembles and tests prototypes
* Provides technical supervision during assembly and test processes and generates support documents as needed.
* Designs assembly tooling.
Supervision: Does not supervise anyone
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
* Four year degree in Mechanical Engineering (minimum)
* At least two to five years of experience designing electromechanical components and assemblies very desirable
* Experience modeling and analyzing complex technical problems related to mechanical packaging, systems with moving parts and thermal analysis
* Experience using SolidWorks modeling and SolidWorks Simulation software
Physical Requirements:
* Able to read documents and computer screens
* Able to move around an office building and up stairs
* Able to sit/stand for long periods of time
* Able to type on a computer keyboard
* Able to communicate through a telephone
* Able to communicate with co-workers
