Position Overview
Dover Corporation is seeking an individual to join our Global Sourcing group to support strategic sourcing of Direct categories: Resin & Plastics, Casting & Machining, OEM Hydraulics & Industrial. This is a hybrid role where you will have the ability to support approximately $1 billion in spend across a multitude of categories. This is an exciting leadership role with global scope, supporting business units in developing and executing Sourcing strategies in a fast-paced entrepreneurial organization.
The project manager will be tasked with supporting the comprehensive strategy for these categories. Elements of this strategy include supplier management and development, risk mitigation, and leveraging these relations to bring the highest value for spend to these categories purchased by Dover OpCos. Other strategic activities include global sourcing efforts such as supply base optimization, make or buy decisions, new product development, acquisitions support, and global and regional expansion.
Skills and Experience
To be successful in this role, the project manager needs to have an entrepreneur mindset with strong organizational skills, ability to implement a strategic plan, strong bias for action, a continuous improvement understanding, well developed interpersonal skills, and data management skills.
Reporting to the Senior Global Category Manager, this position will interact with the Segment Supply Chain Directors, Supply Chain management, suppliers and OpCos. This is an exciting opportunity for a successful supply chain leader in a highly visible leadership position with a career path of continued strategic contributions and advancement.
* Minimum of five years of work experience in the manufacturing industry (e.g., N.A.I.C. 31-33).
* Ideal candidates will have a strong background in processes and supply chain in a number of these categories:
* Hydraulics & Pneumatics: Fluid Transfer and electromechanical systems as used in an industrial setting preferred.
* Resins & Plastics: understanding of different material grades for industrial and biopharma industry as well as understanding the resin manufacturers / distributors network and molders supply chain complexity
* Casting & Machining: conceptual understanding of guiding principles for aluminum die castings, sand castings, permanent mold, casting tolerances and porosity as well as different high tolerance machining operations such as: gear manufacturing, turning, milling, grinding, ECM/EDM, etc..
* Industrial OEM: strong background in bearings (pillow block, needle, ball, thrust, etc.), electrical motors (AC & DC, NEMA, IEC, UL, ATEX), and industrial valves
* Activity & knowledge in strategically planning for, & managing, all interactions with third party organizations that supply goods to maximize the value of those interactions.
* Demonstrated ability to apply a systematic, disciplined approach to managing technical product sourcing to maximize value brought to the fast paced decentralized environment.
* Knowledge of technical drawings and specifications, including required tolerances, calculated fits, and manufacturing capability.
* Working knowledge of supply chain principals (e.g., Design, Plan, Buy, Make, etc), planning (e.g., material, production, demand), and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems.
* Contract negotiation experience to establish a framework for the relationship between supplier and OpCo on an operational level with strategic activities taking place on an executive level.
* Able to process a wide variety of information and data to create a cogent communication to drive understanding and actions for multiple functional in both Dover and OpCos.
* Identify and drive deployment of cost savings, structuring cost reduction programs using value analysis/value engineering (VA/VE) techniques, and other tool sets to reduce supply chain complexities and waste.
* Strong spreadsheet skills (e.g., pivot tables, formulas, data visualization) for analytics of data in support of sourcing decision making, pricing reviews, and process tracking reports
Travel
* Typically travels 20% of the time, primarily domestically. (May travel domestically and internationally up to 40% of the time for OpCo and supplier site visit and meetings - e.g., project updates, business reviews, and audits).
Education
Required: BS Business, Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, or related.
Desirable: MBA
