The purpose of the Engineering Intern Program is to raise the bar on talent by strengthening our pipeline for entry level roles for immediate and future needs.

In this role as a summer engineering intern you will support the manufacturing and engineering of world-class, high-precision optical systems. This is a dynamic position for an individual to work as part of our mechanical design team to design and develop custom precision opto-mechanical systems, serving as a support member of the product and process development team.



Scope of Position:

Working directly with engineers and technologists in learning various Canton glass making processes. Engaging and working with Dept. Heads, Engineers, Technicians and Operations on projects in the plant.

We will have a mid-term review and a final review with plant senior leadership in mid-summer.

Day to Day Responsibilities:

* Our Canton, NY plant houses a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility working with development and production of glass used in Semi-Conductor optics used in the photo-lithography stages in computer chip manufacturing.
* Gain valuable hands on experience, including project and process activities.
* We are looking for those with a strong level of technical curiosity and who are capable of delivering creative solutions to technical challenges.
* While working in a team based environment, participate as an individual contributor on the team.

Required Education & Experience:

* We are seeking a pending Junior or Senior in Mechanical Engineering
* Motivated self-starter with independent learning style.
* Basic knowledge of manufacturing systems and experience with data analysis (i.e. Microsoft Excel, SPC rules)
* Experience with Microsoft Office Suite

Desired Skills:

* Process engineering skills (quantitative skills, coursework in engineering, statistics, or other statistical training)
* Technical writing with the ability to deliver technical presentations to operators, engineers, and managers.
* Innovative and technically curious

Soft Skills:

* Effective communication & presentation skills (verbal and written).
* Ability to work on diverse project team.
* Able to build new business relationships with the team.

Travel Requirements:

* Traveling between Canton, NY and Corning, NY
