The Hartford Financial Services Group is seeking an energetic and passionate team member to take on the role of Cloud Performance Engineer
In this role, you are responsible for driving performance and stability improvements of critical business applications, the architecture, and integrations to ensure optimal end user experience by working closely with Application development, Infrastructure, Database and middleware teams. You will also be responsible for monitoring application performance trends (cloud/on-Prem) and identifying opportunities to improve performance and/or availability.
The role will be key point of contact between various Personal and Commercial Lines application teams to develop a holistic strategy and roadmap for on-prem and cloud investments and align it with enterprise wide performance initiatives. The candidate is expected to collaborate with other teams (e.g. Lines of Business Architects, Infrastructure, Security, Data Application Leads, etc.) to help architect and design target state environments for high performance, mission critical applications with high availability and disaster recovery mechanisms. Provides performance technology direction and guidance for strategic projects/initiatives aligned with enterprise architecture goals such as IT simplification and platform roadmaps. This will include evaluating, selecting and recommending relevant technology, tools and practices aligned with business strategy and enterprise architecture priorities
This role can be based in our Windsor, CT or Charlotte, NC office.
Responsibilities:
* Knowledge and or hands on experience in Cloud native and Cloud integrated applications on platforms such as AWS, Azure and GCP
* Develop next-gen, smart, automated performance validation solutions in a CI/CD software delivery environment
* Independently contribute in finding game changer solutions using cutting-edge technologies and Experience in enabling next-gen alerting, problem-solving, and self-healing solutions for IT assets
* Be able to review, assess and use Artificial Intelligence based analytics, and fine-tune it to make a good balance between faster automatic root cause analysis and false positives
* Implement application performance management, log analytics, error analytics, business analytics solutions using APM tools, but not limited to Dynatrace, Elastic stack, Sumologic, Splunk etc.
* Design and implement holistic performance test strategy for end to end performance testing
* Design, develop and execute overall automated Performance Test Plans to continuously validate Load, Stability, Scalability, and Reliability standards of the application are achieved
* Perform root cause analysis of performance issues and suggest corrective actions
* Coordinate with application support teams to perform bug fixes
* Implement custom alerts for proactive monitoring
* Oversee system performance lifecycle and identify key metrics for performance improvements
* Production analysis of performance, availability and capacity using Dynatrace tools
* Generate periodic performance health reports for application management review
* Focus on Agile software development and DevOps
* Experience and willingness to drive independently or work in a group to design, build, and implement smart analytic based performance solutions, including pilots and proof of concepts keeping value and use in mind
* Attitude to solve performance problems smartly, and continuous improvement approach : thinking outside the box and accelerating solutions
* Solve some of the hardest performance issues : work with developers closely to improve app code performance issues, infra resources issues and application performance latency issues
Technologies:
* Experience with Dynatrace or similar application monitoring tool
* Experience reviewing (not developing) code in Java, J2EE, Javascript, Python, Perl, .Net Framework, Javascript, Angular 2, Bootstrap, Cordova
* Experience with Jenkins or Git, Containers experience is a plus
* Experience with Junit or Selenium
* DataPower, WMB, MQ, Oracle BPEL) based on demand
Qualifications
* 3 or more years of experience in technology-focused organization/ relevant software engineering experience
* 2+ years of experience with high-traffic, large-scale distributed systems and client-server architectures.
* Experience in coding & scripting languages such as Java, Javascript, Python or Perl
* Ability to implement defined performance strategy at project level
