The AWS Military Technical Apprenticeship Program is an approved Department of Defense (DoD) SkillBridge Program. Active duty transitioning service members from any branch of service may apply if they meet the eligibility requirements. Amazon Web Services (AWS) is looking for aspiring and motivated individuals who align with our Leadership Principles for our Software Development Apprenticeship Program. If accepted, apprentices will be provided both formalized IT training and on the job training leading to an interview as a Software Development Engineer with Amazon or Amazon Web Services. Amazon.com has built a reputation of excellence in web-related technologies and services. As an apprentice, you will have a unique opportunity to combine technical and hands on training with our team as you develop your Software Development skills.
The Software Development Engineer Apprenticeship Program is an accelerated career development program for professionals who want to advance their technical skills. Training is broken into two main pieces: instructor-led and on-the-job training.
The instructor-led training (ILT) portion will tentatively start in March 29.2021 and consists of 18 weeks of training in a classroom environment that is based in Bellevue, WA. Due to COVID-19, ILT will be virtual through June 2021. Upon successful completion of instructor-led training, apprentices will proceed to on-the-job training in one of the following locations: Seattle, WA.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
A bachelors (or higher) degree in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics (STEM); OR an associates degree in STEM with 2+ years of technical troubleshooting experience; OR 2+ years towards a STEM degree with 2+ years of technical troubleshooting experience; OR completion of a Coding Bootcamp
Completion of the AWS Educate Cloud Computing 101 training prior to interview event during the week of February 10, 2021. Create your account or login at AWS Educate for Veterans and complete the training to complete this crash course on the cloud, its history, and solutions.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
1 year of programming experience in Java / C++ (or equivalent OO language)
1 year experience building and operating scalable distributed systems
