Sterling Capital Management is seeking experienced Portfolio Administrators to perform portfolio accounting, reconciliation, and reporting. This is an essential and foundational position for the effective functioning of our business. Precise, organized, and highly accountable professionals are desired. A successful Portfolio Administrator combines excellent math and problem solving skills, a sound proficiency with technology (from Outlook and Excel to Bloomberg, Advent, and Charles River), and a strong customer service approach.
Accurate, timely investment account data, generated by Portfolio Administrators, is critical to supporting nearly every aspect of Sterling; from portfolio management and trading, to compliance, to marketing and client service.
Portfolio Administrators oversee portfolio accounting for an assigned group of institutional, separately managed fixed income and equity accounts. This requires daily reconciliation of Sterlings portfolio accounting system to the clients book of record at custody, with the active resolution of any breaks.
In addition to these core tasks, Portfolio Administrators also deliver system-generated account statements, provide customer support to multiple internal groups by answering requests, support the full life-cycle of client accounts from new account onboarding through portfolio closing, and participate in several auxiliary activities such as pricing reviews, data validations, and corporate actions processing.
Core Responsibilities:
* Ensure transaction/position integrity in Sterlings records (Advent APX) against client custodial records, and also to Sterlings OMS (Charles River) and relevant reference data (Bloomberg, etc.).
* Research and remediate reconciliation discrepancies daily. Requires close and frequent communication (email and phone) with counterparts at custodial banks and internal settlement team.
* Prepare and distribute all month-end accounting and performance statements, per client specific instructions, for assigned client list during first 7 business days after month end.
* Manage operational aspects of new account onboarding, including set up of account attributes in portfolio accounting system, data feed connectivity to custodian, and verifying funding status.
* Oversee necessary steps for other operational activities over an account lifecycle, such as contributions/withdrawals, audit requests, and account terminations.
* Provide internal customer support, quickly responding to a high volume of time sensitive questions and requests from multiple internal teams.
Skills and Competencies:
* Bachelors degree. Preferably in accounting, finance, or relevant field.
* 2+ years of back/middle office financial work experience, preferably within Asset Management.
* Technical understanding of investment markets, securities, security data, and investment systems.
* Direct experience with a portfolio accounting system, preferably an Advent system.
* Excellent overall computer skills with demonstrated proficiency in several software packages. Familiarity with Bloomberg, Charles River, Factset and Salesforce preferred.
* Strong ability in Microsoft Excel, including vlookups, pivot tables and macros.
