THE IMPACT YOU WILL MAKE
The Enterprise Operational Risk - Risk Management - Senior Associate role will offer you the ability to add value to the company by performing effective risk management with a team of highly skilled and collaborative teammates and leadership. Responsibilities include:
* Identifying and providing oversight of Fannie Maes business activity (including Strategic Initiatives) with a heightened focus on activities that expose Fannie Mae to a high level of operational risk.
* Performing oversight of risk and control assessments executed by Fannie Maes in-business Risk Teams.
* Monitoring and evaluating the risk profile for specific operational risks.
* Analyzing internal and external risk-related data to effectively monitor and assess the risk and control environment.
* Documenting results of operational risk evaluations and monitoring activities via recurring reporting.
* Understanding and communicating, as well as supporting Fannie Maes business lines to adopt and implement operational risk requirements, as defined by Fannie Mae or its regulator.
* Building and maintaining strong partnerships with Fannie Maes businesses and its in-business Risk Teams.
Qualifications

Minimum Required Experience
* 2 years of relevant experience
Desired Experience
* Bachelors degree or equivalent
* 3-5 years of risk oversight and/or management experience
* Relationship management skills including managing and engaging stakeholders, customers, and vendors, and building relationship networks
* Experience gathering accurate information to explain concepts and answer critical questions
* Risk assessment and management experience including evaluating and designing controls, conducting impact assessments, identifying control gaps, and remediating risk
* Influencing skills to include negotiating and persuading others; must be able to facilitate meetings and resolve conflict
* Record of using expertise to provide effective challenge of 1st line of defense risk teams.
* Experience providing guidance to operational risk management staff on how to adhere to requirements within the operational risk management framework.
* Skilled in presenting information and/or ideas to an audience in a way that is engaging and easy to understand
* Adept at managing project plans, resources, and people to ensure successful project completion
* Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work across the organization and with individuals having different functional expertise respectfully and cooperatively while working toward a common goal
* Excel, Risk Works, SharePoint, Visio (or ARIS or other process mapping tool)

This segment also issues structured MBS backed by Fannie Mae multifamily MBS; buys and sells multifamily agency mortgage-backed securities; and offers delegated underwriting and servicing, as well as multifamily mortgage, and credit risk and loss management services. The company serves mortgage banking companies, savings and loan associations, savings banks, commercial banks, credit unions, community banks, specialty servicers, insurance companies, and state and local housing finance agencies. Federal National Mortgage Association was founded in 1938 and is headquartered in Washington, the District of Columbia.
