JOB SUMMARY: Makes and receives phone calls with the intent of promoting and selling VPI pet insurance, endorsements, renewals, and services to potential and existing policyholders. May provide a basic level of customer support but refers more complex problems to other staff members. Requires an in-depth knowledge of services offered. Also handles the renewal process for retaining the pet insurance policies and endorsements from existing policyholders by performing the following duties.

Nationwide Insurance has a great opportunity for full-time Sales Agents to join our Inside Sales Department.

Scope of the Position

In these full-time roles at our modern call center, you will receive phone calls (leads) with the intent of promoting and selling Pet Insurance, endorsements, renewals and services to potential and existing policy holders. You will also be expected to follow up on leads and applicants to complete their pets policies. You may also provide a basic level of Customer support.

Hours of Operation

The call center is operational Monday through Friday, 5am -7pm (PST) and Saturdays 7 am - 3:30pm (PST). The right candidate must be flexible to work any of these shifts. Shifts are awarded by business need and by performance.

Qualifications: **Property & Casualty license preferred, however we will send the right candidates to get licensed.

Sales Agents will be required to maintain licensure through completion of required Continuing Education credit as a condition of employment.

Requires 2 years of Sales experience; preferably in a call center environment, a professional, team-player attitude, strong computer skills; and a high school diploma (some college preferred).

Credit Check: Due to the fiduciary accountabilities within this job, a valid credit check and/or background check will be required as part of the selection process.

Knowledge: Must be knowledgeable and experienced in standard sales process of prospecting, appointment setting, needs analysis, objection handling, presentation skills, negotiations, closing skills, account maintenance and follow-up.

Starting Salary: $36,000.00 annually with a commission plan that starts at $24,000.00 and is uncapped. **Most of our agents are currently in the $70,000.00 to $80,000.00 range and some are earning over six-figures.**

**During training, you will work FULL-TIME **

Training hours are usually from 8am - 5pm; Monday - Friday

Schedules will be assigned based on business needs and commence upon completion of full-time training.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS: Reports to Sales Supervisor

CORE JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Receives incoming calls or initiates outgoing calls to prospects, qualifies new potential policyholders and explains features and merits of policies and endorsements offered, recommends type of coverage based on analysis of prospects circumstances and needs. (See Sales Requirements)

2. Handles inbound renewal calls and/or initiates outgoing calls, following up on existing or prior policyholders, and perform standard and recommended sales techniques and processes to retain, upgrade, sell or consult with prospects and customers. (See Sales Requirements)

3. Calculates and quotes premium rates for recommended policies, endorsements and renewals.

4. Performs initial underwriting review of pets eligibility.

5. Follows and abides by all Department of Insurance laws and regulations as they pertain to the Sales Rep and VPI Pet Insurance in the delivery of the details of the policy and processes offered by VPI.

6. Collects premiums from policyholders and inputs payment data.

7. Anticipates future needs and calls on established clients to renew and upgrade accounts.

8. Develops personal time management and organizational tools.

9. Responsible for all personally sold policies to retain them and avoid cancellations with in reason and company policies, procedures and guidelines during the term of the policy.

10. Maintains accurate and through documentation, follows up on medical and pending applications with Underwriting, Vet Clinics, and policy holders until the application is approved or declined by either the policyholder or VPI.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Education: One-year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Bachelors degree preferred but not necessary.

License/Certification/Designation: Property and Casualty license required. Sales Agent will be required to maintain licensure through completion of required Continuing Education credit as a condition of employment.

Experience: A minimum of 1 years of prior telephone or direct sales experience, preferred.

Knowledge: Must be knowledgeable and experienced in standard sales process of prospecting, appointment setting, needs analysis, objection handling, presentation skills, negotiations, closing skills, account maintenance and follow-up.

Skills/Competencies: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, and technical procedures. Ability to write reports and business correspondence. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exits. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, verbal, diagram, or schedule form. Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access and internet access. Power Point a plus. Ability to learn new software programs necessary to do the job of Sales Representative. Ability to type a minimum of 25 WPM and use a 10-key calculator.

JOB CONDITIONS:

Overtime Eligibility: Eligible (Nonexempt)

Working Conditions: The employee works within an office environment with moderate noise levels and temperature conditions and no direct exposure to hazardous substances. While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to sit. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk and reach with hands and arms. The employee may be expected to lift, move and carry records and documents typically weighing 20 pounds or less. Finger dexterity is required for use of personal computer and standard office equipment
