As a Senior Manager, you'll provide expert analysis and recommendations for sub-advisor selection, monitoring, deselection and transition management. You will be the primary investment contact for sub-advisor relationships providing due diligence and daily oversight, supporting negotiations with leadership in collaboration with Chief Information Officer, Legal and Compliance.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:
Selects and monitors sub-advisors of NFG products and/or third-party funds included in Nationwide Financial products.
Conducts expert analysis of mutual funds and other investment products. Recommends addition of new funds/managers. Monitors existing funds/managers for satisfactory performance.
Reviews investment performance reports, securities holdings and other information received or requested on specific investment portfolios.
Utilizes data acquired from investment market studies and strong knowledge of the relationship between various types of investments to provide consultation on structuring portfolios.
Provides recommendations, based on investment experience and market knowledge, for the selection of sub-advisors. Maintains and updates sub-advisor selection strategies when necessary.
Provides sub-advisor analysis, evaluates marketplace trends, studies competitor filings and recommends sub-advisor management and selection options for the supported group. Ensures the selection process and decisions about investment options are consistent with the strategies of the Manager Strategies group.
Reviews industry trends to identify and monitor top investment managers to determine their potential effectiveness within IMG.
Leads the transition management and deselection process for underperforming sub-advisors, based on analysis results.
Serves as a subject matter authority when assisting with new product development.
Conducts on-site investment due diligence with IMG sub-advisors.
May perform other duties as assigned.

Reporting Relationships: Reports to Associate Vice President, Manager Strategies.

Typical Skills and Experience:
Education: Undergraduate studies in business, finance, economics, accounting or a related field. Graduate studies preferred.

License/Certifications: CFA/CFP certification preferred or progression towards designation.

Experience: Eight years of related experience in financial services investment management, including sub-advisor selection & administration.

Knowledge, Skills and Ability: Solid understanding of investment products, sub-advisor selection, administration and distribution strategy. Strong knowledge of investment, performance measurement and style analysis. Understands the dynamics of selecting and managing sub-advisor relationships. Strong working knowledge of all vendor software utilized by the Manager Strategies team (e.g. FactSet, Bloomberg, eVestment, etc.). Demonstrated technical knowledge of investments, sub-advisor selection and industry dynamics. Adept at building relationships both internally and externally. Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Job Conditions:
Overtime Eligibility: Not Eligible (Exempt).

Working Conditions: Normal office environment. Extended work hours may be required based on workload. May require occasional travel.
