Function Overview:

We are seeking qualified candidates for a Supervisor position in the Powder Paint and Porcelain Finishing Department on 2nd Shift.

An exciting opportunity for a technically inclined leader to direct the departmental operations of a highly automated powder porcelain and paint finishing process. Provide outstanding leadership to a motivated team of professionals to support assembly, new product development, and enable world-class development of product and operators.

Reporting to the Manager of Finishing Operations, the 2nd Shift Finishing Supervisor is a key leadership position that leads the production of finished parts critical to assembly operations. This position ensures that all daily activities for the assigned production value stream are customer-focused and performed in a manner consistent with the achievement of the plant's vision, goals, and objectives. This position is a key decision-maker and escalation point for value stream issues or decisions across 2nd shift. You will collaborate with engineering resources and other support functions (materials, finance, etc) on short and long-term improvements to the production line.

Responsibilities:

* Lead a Powder Paint and Porcelain Finishing team, consisting of up to 80 operators, on the second shift to support assembly operations across more than 12 assembly lines.
* Vigilant enforcement of safety protocol and policy. Given an ever-changing environment, quickly emplace effective changes to maximize the safety of the team.
* Initiate and lead improvements in safety, cost, quality, and productivity that impact the Finishing Department and process partners.
* Lead and direct technicians and work teams, and serve as a coordinator between cross-functional teams including Maintenance, Quality, Materials, Engineering, and Operations.
* Create an environment of development and evolution for subordinate leaders. Manage the growth plan for Team Leaders, groom team members for succession.
* Apply critical thinking and root cause analysis tools and prescribed documentation methods to identify defects, develop countermeasures, and solve problems.
* Organize and manage administrative systems to track employee time, project progress, and resource expenditure.
* Lead onboarding and integration of new employees, monitoring and controlling initial placement, training, and performance.
* Utilize Whirlpools leadership development toolbox to continue personal development to open career growth opportunities.
* Excellent communication skills to provide key and timely operations information to all levels of the organization to assure fluid operations from shift to shift.
* Provide an integral link in the help chain between leadership and team members as well as to upstream and downstream internal customers.
* Continue fostering team's development and utilization of Lean manufacturing or World Class Manufacturing (WCM) tools and thinking into daily routines to eliminate issues and inefficiencies in the Finishing Area.
* Demonstrate and uphold the Whirlpool Core Values, including Integrity, Respect, Inclusion, and Diversity on a daily basis.

Basic Qualifications:

* Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Operations or Industrial Technology
* 4+ years of manufacturing experience
* 3+ years of experience in sheet metal fabrication, welding, CNC forming, powder paint, or porcelain paint finishing.
* 2+ years in a leadership role

Preferred Qualifications:

* Previous Manufacturing supervisory experience
* Excellent planning and leadership skills
* Project management skills and experience
* Superior communication, presentation, and facilitation skills
* Thorough knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and Six Sigma tools, and their application in robust manufacturing
* Strong interpersonal, coaching, and conflict resolution skills
* Proficient in Google Suites and Microsoft Excel
