Raleigh General Hospital

Under the supervision of an RN, interprets patient cardiac rhythm as recorded on telemetry monitor and initiates appropriate action when indicated.

Serve as resource person for other staff members.

Performs continual surveillance of multiple monitors.

Identifies significant arrhythmias and/or signs of patient distress and intervenes appropriately. Identifies and corrects for artifacts.

Reports abnormal assessment and telemetry findings or changes in patient physical, mental, and emotional conditions to nursing staff.

Tests equipment for proper working order. Reports equipment problems to supervisor.

Records rhythm strips for documentation

Reports to: Director of 4 North and Telemetry

FLSA: Non-exempt

Grade: N03

Job Requirements

Minimum Education

High school diploma or equivalent - Required BLS - To be obtained within 30 days

Required Skills

Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Demonstrated knowledge of rhythm interpretation.

Minimum Work Experience

Previous LPN or EMT experience preferred, and/or successful completion of Rhythm Interpretation Class or experience with telemetry monitoring.
