An area within Chase Card Services has an excellent opportunity for an individual with proven commercial underwriting abilities. The selected individual will thrive in a fast-paced environment. Primary responsibilities include underwriting new applications as well as existing corporate liability credit requests, with a strong focus on credit quality and risk assessment. Portfolio management responsibilities include proactive identification of credit trends and weaknesses, completion of periodic and annual credit reviews and initiating collections activity in connection with overall commercial relationship management. Individuals in this position will be have prior experience working with commercial credit applications, along with proven verbal, written, interpersonal, analytical and problem-solving skills. The ability to interface well and build strong working relationships with internal partners such as Business Bankers, Business Development and Risk Policy is another important component of the role.
Qualifications
Proven ability to spread business financial statements/tax returns, perform ratio analysis, complete risk assessment and make sound credit decisions and recommendations via written and verbal presentations;
Experience in supporting recommendations when challenged and in negotiating counteroffers, where appropriate;
Proficiency in credit/lending transactions and analytical skill sufficient to enable independent underwriting of commercial requests for lines of moderate to large size and complexity with limited guidance required from immediate manager;
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
Proven ability to communicate verbally and in writing with internal and external customers and with various levels of management;
Ability to work in a team environment;
Flexibility in adapting to changing volumes and areas of focus (new applications versus portfolio reviews versus initiation of collections, etc.);
Ability to investigate, recommend and initiate process improvements;
Possess accounting and finance knowledge, and commercial banking experience
Minimum 3 years commercial credit lending experience;
Commercial credit card lending experience a plus;
Computer skills specific to Microsoft products and proprietary systems;
Bachelor's degree in a business-related discipline (MBA a plus);
Successful completion of a major corporate bank commercial training program (or the equivalent corporate banking/corporate finance or accounting experience);
