The successful candidate will be part of the team handling all phases of the global business capture process for the Military Radar enterprise within Surveillance Solutions and reports to the head of Business Development for the division. The position is for an individual contributor able to generate new leads, support current customers and understand the military radar market to include early opportunity identification, requirements shaping, qualification, competitive assessments, development of 'win' strategies and participation in identifying new avenues of growth for the business. In addition to the opportunity role, other tasks include proposal efforts, gate reviews and identification/utilization/management of consultants and representatives around the world.
The Lead, Business Development will initially focus on a technical review to grow the business and develop customer relationships for those avenues. In addition, developing business opportunities for the current line of products, both through Foreign Military Funding (FMS) and Direct Commercial Sale (DCS) opportunities. The candidate should have specific expertise to develop high-level white papers/RFI responses and understand radar concepts to support opportunities and new growth development.
Qualified candidates will have a strong understanding of military radars and Electronic Warfare (EW) and associated business development process, strong communications skills, and experience with military customers. International experience, and strong background of technical insights within air traffic control and air defense radars are a significant plus.
This position will execute all business development activities (campaign, individual pursuits and the associated strategy, etc.) in the following areas:
* Developing relationships with key Military and Government organizations, key prime contractors, partner companies
* Identifying and managing consultants/partners in assigned area
* Prospecting to identify potential opportunities, and progressing through the cycle to the order
* Holding high-level technical discussions and assisting in proposal process
* Attend trade shows, conferences and customer meetings to engage directly with the customer, understand where the market is going and identify new opportunities
* Close on contract orders to meet annual operating plan and strategic growth plan
* Effectively communicate status and actions
Essential Functions:
* Support day-to-day business activities
* Execute actions required for new business development
* Lead/support business acquisition process including gate reviews, CRM, proposal process
* Participate in cross-functional meetings for understanding of complete business
* Lead participation in tradeshows, conferences and business meetings relevant to new business for the division
Qualifications:
* Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of 12 years of prior related experience
* 7+ years international business development experience
* 5+ years' experience with military radar technology
Preferred Additional Skills:
* Experience leading large pursuits successfully
* Electronic warfare and/or radar experience
* Experience in proposal writing
* Active Clearance
* Experience in marketing, sales, business development with military customers
* Proven track record in building and maintaining relationships in the industry
* Good oral and written communication skills
* Ability to achieve individual goals and work with minimal oversight
