Our location in San Diego, CA currently has an opportunity for a Manufacturing Engineer Manager within our Toxicology business unit. This role develops, implements and maintains methods, operation sequence and processes in the manufacture or fabrication of parts, components, sub-assemblies and final assemblies. The person in this position interfaces with design engineering in coordinating the release of new products, as well as estimates manufacturing cost, determines time standards and makes recommendations for tooling and process requirements of new or existing product lines. Also responsible for maintaining records and reporting systems for coordination of manufacturing operations.

WHAT YOULL DO:
Manufacturing strategic leader. Develops manufacturing processes by studying product requirements; researching, designing, modifying and testing manufacturing methods and equipment; conferring with equipment vendors
May lead or recommend analysis and research of new business practices or approaches
Responsible for planning and directing of all aspects of engineering activities related to assigned projects
Ensures all engineering projects, initiatives and processes are in conformance with organizations established policies and objectives
Proactively anticipates framework and infrastructure requirements
Demonstrate leadership characteristics to move the organization toward long-term business goals
Functions as highest level of technical resource
Resolves and consults on most complex issues and drives solutions
Mentor and leads projects
May function as a manager
Directs efforts of multiple project teams
Participate in Lean Activities, and improve manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning work flow, space requirements and equipment layout
Assures product and process quality by designing testing methods; testing finished product and process capabilities; establishing standards; confirming manufacturing processes
May work with hazardous materials, high voltage and RF Power
Responsible for exhibiting professional behavior with both internal/external business associates that reflects positively on the company and is consistent with the companys policies and practices; build productive internal/external working relationships
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE YOULL BRING:
Required:
BS or MS degree in engineering or related experience
10 or more years of related manufacturing experience
5 or more years of related experience in medical devices
Preferred:
Advanced knowledge of federal and other regulations governing medical device assembly and design, e.g. GMP, QSR, ISO and CMDR
Recognized expert in multiple technological fields of specialization
Strong knowledge of machine function, mechanical /electrical or software engineering
Understands and is aware of the quality consequences which may occur from the improper performance of their specific job; has awareness of device defects that may occur in their area of responsibility, including product design, verification and validation, manufacturing and testing activities
Typical computer application includes Solid Works, AutoCAD, MS Word, Excel and Project. May include Lab View, PLC and other specialty machine and vision SW.
Demonstrated problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
Previous management experience
Self-starter that can influence internal/external customers
