What you will be doing...
The Competitive Intelligence Managers responsibilities include gathering, analyzing, and synthesizing competitive intelligence and turning it into quality strategic insight. This individual will own Tableaus competitive voice by crafting the messaging and material to be used in marketing and sales programs and serve as an authority on topics related to Tableaus competitive and market differentiation. This role will also inform (and help drive) Tableaus product, sales and marketing decisions by developing actionable insights and strategically focused materials for each group.
Primary Responsibilities:
Garther, analyze, and synthesize information about the Business Intelligence & Analytics tech markets and surrounding markets such as Data Management, Embedded Analytics, and Data Science.
Develop up-to-date tools (such as battle cards, product analyses, competitive responses, internal and external presentations, etc.) with a view toward improving sales effectiveness.
Develop up-to-date customer-facing materials and marketing campaigns to educate customers/prospects about the differentiation of Tableau from select competitors.
Build convincing messaging frameworks that help establish Tableaus differentiation with a focus on improving brand perception. Develop concise, audience-appropriate, actionable communications using this messaging.
Identify and fill knowledge gaps in Tableaus understanding of its competitors.
Research and stay up to date on market/competitor trends and news.
Brief product teams on competitor technologies and update marketing teams about competitive messaging and positioning issues.
Help foster and drive internal competitive information sharing.
Who you are...
Experienced. 5-7+ years in a product marketing, marketing, or technical sales role.
Domain. Experience creating and delivering messaging or positioning.
Experience defining target audiences and crafting compelling messaging through a deep understanding of your customer. Experience communicating the value of product features and benefits through demos and product presentations.
Data Driven. Deep understanding of and curiosity about the BI & Analytics industry and surrounding markets. General data literacy skills - desired proficiency with BI & Analytics products such as Tableau.
Strong Communicator. Excellent writing ability, including the ability to communicate technical concepts. Strong presentation skills.
Enthusiastic. Enthusiasm for a fast-growing, fast-changing environment.
Go Getter. The ability to own projects from start to finish.
Driven. Strong entrepreneurial drive.
