Overview
We are currently seeking an Assistant Publicist to provide administrative and publicity support in the Harper imprint. Candidate will work on books spanning genres and topics such asliterary and commercial fiction, history, politics, science, health, design, pop culture, entertainment, business, sports and more.
Responsibilities
* Provides administrative and publicity support a Senior Director and Director of Publicity.
* Assists with writing press releases, pitches letters and other promotional materials relating to book tours.
* Helps reach out to targeted press.
* Assists with coordinating book events and book signings for authors.
* Orchestrates publicity mailings for major book campaigns.
* Organizes author schedules; books travel for authors on tour.
* Generates media contact lists, books events and media.
* Shares department assistant duties such as mail sorting, answering phones, and sending book requests.
Qualifications
* 4 year college degree or equivalent work experience
* Prior internship experience in publishing or publicity preferred
* Ability to multi-task and manage time effectively
* Ability to excel in a fast-paced/high pressure environment
* Ability to work independently
* Excellent written and oral communication skills
* Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
* Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; social media knowledge a plus
* Able to travel to author events in NYC
