Sales Associate Duties Include:
* Create a world-class customer experience by providing passionate customer service and selling through customer engagement
* Uphold DICKS Sporting Goods standards for merchandise presentation of the best apparel and equipment brands in sporting goods
* Demonstrate ability to genuinely interact with customers to show passion, knowledge, dedication, and commitment in their sport or activity
* Ability to meet Federal requirements for handling and processing firearm transactions
* Cash Register/POS Ringing and Cash-handling
* Promote company programs including warranty sales, Scorecard (loyalty program, private-label credit cards, and other seasonal promotions
* As business needs arise, other tasks may become necessary
Operations & Freight Flow Associate Duties:
* Maintain cleanliness of all areas of the store including offices and restrooms
* Assist with unloading trucks and processing freight
* Adhere to all safety policies and procedures
* Ability to bend, stoop, reach, stand, push, pull, and lift cartons/bins weighing approximately 10-50 pounds each repetitively
Qualifications
Success Profile :
* Flexible availability including nights, weekend, and holidays
* 1-2 years of Retail Cashier, Retails Sales or cash-handling experience preferred, but not required
* Passion for Sports and/or Outdoor Activity

The Story begins ...
DICK’S Sporting Goods was founded in 1948 when an 18 year-old Dick Stack was working at an Army surplus store in Binghamton, New York. An avid fisherman, Dick was approached by the store owner to come up with a list of products needed to get into the fishing tackle business. After Dick presented his suggestions, the owner told him he was a dumb kid and had no idea what he was doing. Dick was upset and promptly quit. He went to his grandmother’s house where he spent a lot of time as a kid and told her what had happened.
Dick’s grandmother asked how much it would cost to build the store himself. Dick said it would cost $300. His grandmother then went to the cookie jar where she kept her life savings and gave him $300 and told him “do it yourself.” Dick used that money and his relentless work-ethic to open a bait-and-tackle shop in Binghamton. By the late 1970's, he expanded his product line to include much of what you’ll find at DICK’S Sporting Goods today.

Ed Stack is the current CEO and Chairman of DICK’S Sporting Goods. He and his siblings are responsible for taking two stores and growing the chain. DICK’S continues to offer the finest quality products at competitive prices, supported by teammates with a passion for sports.
