Job summary:

As an electro-optic engineer with Corning, we will work to develop multi-spectral and hyper-spectral sensors for both commercial and defense applications. As such, these systems must be designed to perform reliably in harsh environments.

You will be responsible for flowdown of top-level system requirements to subsystem level thereby creating, establishing and maintaining optical, mechanical, and electrical specifications. Examples include breaking Electro-Optical imaging performance criteria such as wavefront error or MTF system level requirements into optical design, fabrication, alignment, test and operational (thermal, vibration, and shock) tolerance budgets.

Need to understand optics, mechanics, metrology, and electronics and be capable of communicating, coordinating and negotiating specifications both within Corning and with external customers. Will be involved in new product development supporting project from proposal through design, prototype development and transfer to manufacturing.

Required Education & Experience:

* We require a BS in Electro-Optics Infrared relevant Engineering fields (electrical, physics, systems)
* We are seeking 10+years experience in electro-optic related systems development
* Experience developing EO IR systems for aerospace/defense applications
* Knowledge of Electro optical system requirements and specifications
* Ability to breakdown performance requirements to subassembly level
* Excellent communication skills across optical, mechanical, and electrical subject areas
* Leading the design of electro-optic sensor systems and precision mechanism/motion control design
* Good hands-on product development skills and competence with product development tools in engineering (e.g., OrCad, Code V, Zemax, SolidWorks, etc.), project management (MS/Project) and lab (e.g., interferometer)
* Proficiency in testing and debugging electro-optic systems.
