Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.
Summary: Provide process understanding and technical support for pollution abatement systems supporting optical fiber manufacturing. Solve process issues through data analysis, experimentation, and collaboration with subject matter experts. Provide engineering expertise for fundamental understanding of manufacturing issues.
Essential Skills & Duties:
* Provide trend analysis of key metrics and implement response plans.
* Lead and/or provide support for projects involving cost reduction, process optimization, and new process commissioning.
* Recommend/implement improvements to processes and equipment.
* Provide leadership and support for start-up and testing of new installations against engineering and regulatory compliance requirements
* Scope work for expansions or retrofits to meet new process requirements
* Identify chronic issues and recommend corrective actions
* Develop and update engineering and operations documentation
* Provide training for operations workforce regarding equipment or operations changes
* Provide design inputs for modifications and/or expansions of systems to improve overall system reliability and performance
* Off-hours technical support on a rotating basis
* Work with vendors of equipment on warranty issues, repairs, purchases and installation
* Work with trades to install and maintain process equipment
Required Education & Experience:
* B.S. or M.S. in Chemical Engineering or Mechanical preferred. Will consider Electrical or Material.
* +5 years process engineering experience.
* Strong data analysis and statistical skills. Must be proficient with Microsoft Excel and Access (queries, databases).
* Ability to work effectively on all levels of an organization.
* Ability to multitask and prioritize work on an independent basis in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
* Strong communication and presentation skills.
