Job Description
The Nurse Asst assists licensed nursing personnel in the provision of nursing care. They will complete their tasks/duties under the supervision & direction of an assigned Registered Nurse (RN) and/or the Charge RN. The Nurse Asst works with and supports the nursing team in providing services, which meets the patient's & unit needs. The Nurse Asst is able to render care in accordance with their skills, ability, and competencies to our patient population, thus may be required to float to other units. May be required to participate in on call status.

Education:
* High School Diploma / GED required.
Licensure:
* CPR is required
Specific Nurse Assistant duties and responsibilities can include:
* Comfort Measures
1. Passing and filling water pitchers
2. Daily Linen change
3. Post mortem care (as assigned)
4. Catheter care
5. Warm and Cold compresses
6. Repositioning/Turning patients
* Nutritional needs
1. Prep meal trays
2. Snacks and Fluids as directed by RN
3. Tracking intake and output
4. Feeding /Tray set up
5. Obtaining weights
* Personal Hygiene Needs including but not limited to
1. Oral/mouth care
2. Routine skin care
3. Bed bath
4. Shower
5. AM/PM care
6. Peri care
* Purposeful Hourly rounding
* Vital Signs monitoring
* Glucose checks
* Documentation in electronic medical record
* Patient Transport
* Patient equipment application per RN and physician order
* Participate in Falls prevention program
* Utilizes appropriate verbal & nonverbal skills which demonstrate respect for patients, patient's
property and colleagues
* Notifies RN of patient need for modification devices for decreased sensory or cognitive function (glasses, hearing aid, TDD, closed caption TV).
* Intake of patient belongings
* Participate in workplace safety program including but not limited to
* Safety alarms
* Lift equipment
* Bed rails
* Bed levels
* Isolation precautions
* Patient surveillance assignment
* Restraint observation and documentation
