JOB SUMMARY
This position is responsible for administering payroll and human resources data processing functions for salaried, hourly, union, or commissioned personnel. Directly responsible for accurate and timely maintenance and audit of the master file, payroll-related transactions, payroll processing and delivery. Processes special or exception items, including reversals, voids, deductions, and quarterly/year-end payroll items.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
* Administers timely and accurate regular payroll processing items, including on-cycle, off-cycle, commission, and bonus items while maintaining strict confidentiality of information reviewed and processed.
* Processes special or exception items including; reversals, voids, deductions, and quarterly/year-end payroll items.
* Prepares, reviews and takes appropriate action on audit reports to verify data integrity. Prepares ad-hoc reports using human resources information systems (HRIS) information.
* Administers process and/or documentation as required to fund payroll-related deductions (government agencies, union dues, payroll, etc.)
* Researches, validates, and corrects employee data in payroll system delivering a high level of quality customer service. Works with department members, management, and/or employees to identify issues and achieve timely resolutions.
* Handles all overpayments and recoveries.
* Tests updates for payroll processing as related to assigned payrolls.
* Maintains payroll-related accounts and is responsible for the reconciliation and accuracy of the payroll accounts within a complex accounting system. Directly responsible for working with corporate accounting to ensure accurate and timely reconciliations of all payroll transactions.
* Researches and clears all outstanding bank reconciliation items.
* Handles all unclaimed property according to the required regulations, guidelines, and schedules.
* Ensures all unclaimed items are researched timely and employees are notified of outstanding items.
* Replies to G/L exception requests from Corporate Accounting.
* Replies to and acts as liaison for State, Federal and local payroll audits.
* Other duties may be assigned.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
* Bachelors degree with a minimum of eight years full-service payroll processing experience required.
CERTIFICATES and/or LICENSES
* Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or FPC (Fundamental Payroll Certification is preferred.
