Acts as a technical expert in own area within the organization. May work independently or as part of a team on more complex projects. Provides mentoring and guidance to more junior team members. May be responsible for leading a team, but does not directly manage people.

Job Description

Comcast Applied AI Research is an innovative research group within Comcasts Technology & Product organization with offices in Washington DC, Philadelphia, Denver and Chicago that engages in groundbreaking research to re-invent customer experience for Comcasts 22+ Million consumers using AI and machine learning.

We are currently looking to hire a lead researcher with experience conducting cutting-edge research in AI and Machine Learning applied to customer experience domain. Responsible for overseeing design, implementation, and evaluation of future machine learning based products and applications. Guides engineering teams to successfully deploy and operate machine learning
based products and applications.

Develops novel ways to solve problems and improve products using machine learning, provide guidance and leadership to other researchers and/or engineers. Acts as a technical expert in own area within the organization.

May work independently or as part of a team on more complex projects.

Provides mentoring and guidance to more junior team members.

May be responsible for leading a team, but does not directly manage people.

Core Responsibilities:

Guides the successful completion of high profile, revenue impacting programs that use machine learning as essential components. Determines the technical objectives of an assignment. Leads the design of prototypes, partnering with the product team and other stakeholders
through development. Conducts studies to support product or application development. Serves as a leader to others for machine learning technologies.

Design and implement statistical and machine learning models for AI-based customer experience improvement. Drive innovation on improving the speed, coverage and control of high-speed internet data.

Perform model validation activities including validation report write-ups, identification of model risks, and development of benchmark models.

Work with Product Managers and Business Partners to lead development of prototypes that demonstrate Research work, help with Product Discovery and integrate research output into engineering code base.

Collaborate with the product team and ML platform team to remediate model issues and provide subject-matter expert opinions on model improvements.

Develop new algorithmic solutions and technical requirements of custom designs for future products and applications.

Researches, writes and edits documentation and technical requirements, including evaluation plans, confluence pages, white papers, presentations, test results, technical manuals, formal recommendations and reports. Creates patents, Application Programming Interfaces (APIs)
and other intellectual property. Presents papers and/or attends conferences, as well as displaying leadership in these areas.

Conduct research in one or more of the following areas: Wi-Fi network modeling, optimization, Customer experience improvement using virtual assistants; machine learning and big data analytics for predictive modeling and proactive action recommendation.

Work with various team members both inside and outside research. Ensures timely progress of work. Conduct research in an incremental manner thereby enabling faster integration of technology into products. Able to evaluate prototypes, write technical papers, and help with technology transfer.

Keep track of developments of relevant fields both in academia and industry. Attend relevant conferences and publishing research results is encouraged.

Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.

Regular, consistent and punctual attendance. Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) as necessary.

Job Specification:

Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or Statistics

Generally requires 11+ years related experience
