Job Description
The Future Talent Program features internships that last up to 12 weeks and will include one or more projects. These opportunities in our Research Labs can provide you with great development and a chance to see if we are the right company for your long-term goals.
Safety Assessment and Laboratory Animals Resources (SALAR) helps advance high quality drug candidates into development by defining the nonclinical safety and selectivity of lead compounds. SALAR employees evaluate Lead Op candidates and preclinical toxicity of drug development candidates, provide mechanistic understanding of drug-induced toxicity, and assess implications for human safety.
Internship positions are available in the following areas
DART
A student with interest in developmental biology, toxicology, and/or alternatives to whole animal research will explore means to enhance the ability of current in vitro screening assays to predict developmental toxicity. Experiments will be conducted to identify causes of inaccurate predictions, and modifications to current screening approaches may be assessed for their utility in addressing those sources of discordance.
Immunotoxicology
Students interested in Immunology, cell and molecular biology, or toxicology will work on multiple projects developing assays to better assess immune-mediated adverse responses to drug candidates. Interns will work with scientists in the lab to evaluate the effects of small molecule and/or biologic drug candidates on T cells, develop and optimize multiple flow cytometry-based procedures, or explore immune derived exosomal biomarkers of toxicity.
NMR Metabolomics
The intern will work on projects that will leverage state-of-the-art NMR technology for metabolomics application in toxicology. The projects will require the use of Bruker NMR spectroscopies and metabolomics software to identify metabolites, process metabolite quantification, and run statistical analysis. Day-to-day activities will likely include tasks that require sample processing (plasma, urine, cells, and culture media), sample preparation for NMR analysis, NMR spectrum analysis, and connection of metabolites to biochemical pathways for drug treatment or gene knock-out animal models. Good understanding of analytical chemistry, biochemistry, and computer skill will be a plus.
Bioinformatics
Students interested in bioinformatics or toxicology will work to align clinical chemistry, protein biochemistry, and genomics data into structured databases, design data visualizations and perform integrative analysis.
Our ability to excel depends on the integrity, knowledge, imagination, skill, diversity and teamwork of people like you. To this end, we strive to create an environment of mutual respect, encouragement and teamwork. As part of our global team, youll have the opportunity to collaborate with talented and dedicated colleagues while developing and expanding your career.
