At Tableau, were on a mission to help people see and understand their data. The Content Experience team at Tableau creates and manages content that supports all Tableau products and versions, operating systems, devices, languages, and publishing locations. Our customers range from novice first-time users to skilled analysts and storytellers with deep product and technical expertise. We are looking for a Technical Writer to create best-in-class content for the Tableau platform. Our team works in a fast-paced, agile environment to deliver self-service content that allows our customers to find answers to their questions quickly.

What youll be doing:

Do you want to help people understand how data is changing our world? As a Technical Writer for Analytics (Tableau Desktop and related features), you will be a central driver in developing reference content that empowers our customers. You will help individuals and organizations unlock the full potential of their data by removing barriers to analyzing data, answering questions, creating and publishing visualizations, and sharing insights.

* Collaborating and Connecting. Work with partners in product development, user experience, user research, and customer solutions to understand customer needs and deliver technical content to a global audience.

* Writing. Compose and update content that will be used by customers and internal audiences with a range of Tableau experience.

* Creating. Produce engaging content that allows people to find answers to their questions easily.

* Innovating. Develop creative solutions that address multiple learning levels and styles.

* Delivering. Ship content in-step with product release cycles, and to a global audience.

* Measuring. Refer to content metrics and other customer and support feedback to refine the customer content experience.

* Leading. You have great ideas and youre not afraid to share them. You are a problem solver and pride yourself on your ability to articulate and execute a plan.

Who you are:

* Skilled Communicator. We are looking for candidates who have excellent writing, editing, and communication skills. You are passionate about learning new skills and concepts and are excited by cutting-edge technology. You also like to help others learn, and you have a knack for distilling information and crafting clear and engaging instructions.

* Strategic. You are detail-oriented, but you dont get lost in the minutiae. You thrive on big-picture thinking and strategic planning, while working in an agile manner to deliver great experiences to customers.

* Technical. In this role, you will document Tableau capabilities by sitting with feature teams and reviewing technical specifications. You love learning new tools and pushing the boundaries in order to create engaging content. You will blaze the trail for Tableau users by using new capabilities to create scenario-based documentation that delights our customers.

* Curious. You are a problem solver. You have an inquisitive mind and youre not afraid to use it. You know when to ask questions, which questions to ask, and how to listen with intent to learn.

* People-friendly. You work easily with other writers, developers, marketing folks, and, of course, with customers.

* Hands on. Your typical approach to figuring out how something works is to try it and see.

* Creative. You're constantly thinking about the shortest distance between the problem and the solution, and youre able to convey that in a meaningful way.

* Independent. You like to figure out whats needed and then get to work!

Education/Experience:
B.S. or B.A. degree in Technical Communications or equivalent, and 4-7 years of professional technical writing experience preferred.
