Requisition Summary
Cost Engineers are a crucial part of the North American Benchmarking Team and work to provide tehcnical evaluation and competitive data for achieving excellence in cost structure. The position of a Engineer - Cost Analyst reports to the Purchasing Continuious Improvement Manager at PACCAR's new Benchmarking Center in Renton, Wa.
Job Functions / Responsibilities
* Perform cost analysis of components and systems during benchmarking, competitive product teardowns and new product development initiatives.
* Collaborate with the departments of Purchasing, Quality, Product Development, Product Planning and Production Engineering organizations to achieve cost reduction and quality improvement targets.
* Analyze and establish cost estimates of:
* Product costs and investment requirements in tooling/equipment for PACCAR and supplier manufacturing facilities
* Suppliers' current production processes.
* Active participation in supplier meetings and Purchasing negotiations to develop (piece) cost and investment (tool) estimates for assigned projects through extensive analysis of manufacturing cost structure and supplier capabilities.
* Perform feasibility studies in all phases of the innovation process related to new product projects and support business case evaluations.
* Execute feasibility studies regarding alternative production methods to reduce costs.
Qualifications & Skills
* 3+ years of relevant experience desired.
* Knowledge of different manufacturing processes commonly used in the automotive and commercial vehicle industry and its related suppliers.
* Excellent Verbal/Written Communication and Interpersonal Skills
* Six Sigma training is strongly preferred.
* Excellent analytical skills.
* Ability to make reliable cost estimates and analysis based on limited technical information.
* Automotive/Commercial Vehicle experience strongly preferred.
* Travel to be 10 - 15%
Education
* Bachelor's Degree required,
* Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing , Industrial, Automotive Engineering or comparable.
* Degree from ABET Credited School required
