Your Role and Responsibilities
IBM Systems has openings for Hardware Development Engineers to develop and test the hardware and semiconductor designs that comprise our industry-leading IBM Systems products. We are a world-class development team that pioneers innovations for the cutting-edge microprocessors and hardware used in IBM Systems including IBM Storage, IBM Power Systems and IBM Z mainframes.

Job Duties:
Primary Responsibilities:

* Collaborate with cross-organizational memory development engineers (ASIC, PCB, BIOS/FW Memory Software Initialization, Characterization, Modeling), memory subsystem PMs, as well as engagement with global execution team to enable the Memory Subsystem for IBM Power and Z Servers Systems Group roadmap.
* Participate and interlock with leadership team for execution optimization and on-going process improvements.
* Execute electrical, functional, and system test plans to verify system functionality and product specification using hardware and software validation tools.

Additional Responsibilities - Qualified Candidates might also be responsible for:

* Develop technical test plans to support system level bring-up and the validation execution of IBM Server Memory Subsystem.
* Utilize customized-scripts, lab equipment such as oscilloscopes or logic analyzer to analyze & debug electrical and functional test data in supporting of production risk-call decisions.

About the Team
In the Memory Development org, you will be working with hardware and software engineers to develop, bring-up, test, and qualify next generation memory hardware. This hardware will be integrated into IBMs High End Mainframe offerings. The team spans multiple sites and collaborates daily to achieve their goals.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

Minimum Requirements:
* Bachelors/Masters In EE/CE with at least 3 years of directly related experience or 10+ years of related experience; an advanced degree will be considered a plus.
* 3+ years of experience in Hardware design, Bring-Up, or Characterization, along with cross-organizational leadership experience.
* 2+ years of demonstrated expertise in C++/C programming or scripting language (Python, Perl, etc)

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise
Preferred Requirements:

* Demonstrated technical expertise in hardware development, Embedded software procedures, system Bring-Up & Methodology and, Characterization
* Demonstrated experience in using oscilloscopes, reading schematics and layout design files to characterize high-speed IOs Interfaces.
* Knowledge of modern Server uArch (Power, Z, x86, ARM) and system technologies (DDR or other High-Speed IOs such as PCIe, SATA, USB)
* Knowledge of modern OS kernel (Linux, AIX) would be a plus
* Must be a self-starting team player with excellent communication skills who can work with minimal guidance
* Good written and oral communication skills, with the ability to communicate with a variety of engineering disciplines and management.
