The department is a secure unit in the main campus of Laredo Medical Center. This is a busy department that sometimes requires flexibility in scheduling. Position's Purpose and Essential Functions:

Under the direct supervision of a registered pharmacist, compounds and dispenses medical prescriptions. May be expected to perform some clerical duties relating to the department. Receives and stores incoming supplies. Verifies stock and enters data in computer to maintain inventory records. Relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. Typically reports to supervisor or manager. May be expected to meet certain state certifications. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field.

Required:

* High School diploma or equivalent.
* Current Pharmacy Technician Certification (P.T.C.B.).
* Texas State Board Registration.
* Demonstrates computer skills, calculations, arithmetic, English, and grammar.
* 2 Letters of Recommendation.
* Must successfully pass any pre-employment assessment(s) required by the facility.

Pharm Tech I

Level I: Courier/Omnicell Support & Delivery/Return restocking/Med order fill, front telephone, prepacking, restocking. Maintaining a set delivery scheduled as well as when single delivery is required. Floor inspections, pre-packaging of medication(s), general out of date review, crediting of Return Meds, Med Box refill, Inventory of Surgery/Med units. Competency in appropriate hospital/pharmacy computer programs.

Requirements:

* 0- 5 years experience.
* ACPE Accredited SCAT-IV certification or demonstrate proof of registration for exam.

Pharm Tech II

Level II: I.V. certified/Med order fill, front telephone, chemotherapy & TPN, NICU syringes. Dispensing machine fill oversight. Supervision of I.V. Room to include cleaning schedules by both Pharmacy and Environmental. Floor inspections; General Out Date review; Crediting of Return meds; Medical Box refill; Inventory of Surgery Meds Units. Prepares IV admixtures using aseptic technique & laminar air flow hood procedure, assists in training of new technicians. Performs quality control as required in the preparation of parenteral nutrients and chemotherapy agents.

Requirements:

* 5 10 years experience in Acute Care Hospital.
* ACPE Accredited SCAT-IV certification.
* Must possess completed CHEMO competency

Pharm Tech Lead

Level III: I.V. Certified/Med order fill, front telephone, chemotherapy & TPN, NICU syringes. Order entry, Specialist Tech (CS), Specialty areas: CS & Purchasing, Purchasing Certified & Inventory Management, Pyxis Console Management. Training of Level I & Level II Certified Pharmacy Techs; Chart review when assigned. Supervision of other techs on shift. Rounding with nursing Units to included weekly review of return meds pick-up from floors review. Conducts CS audits in all areas of the hospital as per hospital policy; Is able to order adequate supplies for day to day needs for the Pharmacy.

Requirements:

* 10+ years experience in Acute Care Hospital.
* ACPE Accredited SCAT-IV certification.
* Must possess completed CHEMO competency
