AWS Lambda (https://aws.amazon.com/lambda) rapidly drives innovation in the cloud computing ecosystem in unique and exciting ways. AWS Lambda functions enable hundreds of thousands of active customers to run code for virtually any type of application or backend service - all with zero administration. At its core AWS Lambda functions offer customers a serverless way to create applications. This approach enables customers to turn business logic and application code into scalable, fault-tolerant production systems without requiring every developer to become an expert in distributed systems, deployment technologies, and infrastructure management.

We are seeking an Engineering Leader for AWS Lambda DevX team. This leader will own and lead teams of exceptional software engineers to tackle some of the hardest problems at global scale. We want someone who has a proven record of delivering highly operable and maintainable software on time, has relentlessly high standards for themselves and everyone around them and who will drive engineering best practices throughout while constantly looking for ways to make the systems we own better.

The ideal candidate will look like this.

Enjoy being a people manager. Building, motivating and mentoring a world-class software engineering team is the most important part of this role. You should have a proven track record in recruiting and retaining top talent and excel in day-to-day people and performance management tasks.

Have project & product management experience. The successful candidate will create product roadmaps for the team. This will include helping innovate and invent new value-add services layered on top of our existing services. You will need technical project management skills to deliver product roadmap items as well as other cross-team projects. Experience with Agile methodologies is an advantage. You will be customer focused: you understand your customers challenges and are constantly looking for ways to solve them. You have great communication skills, and enjoy working in a fast-paced, collaborative team environment.

Know how to run a tight, lean, efficient operation. The right candidate will want to measure everything and be very data driven. They will be able to use metrics, monitoring and alarming to measure and improve the operational processes and performance of their team.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
10+ years of relevant, engineering experience, and at least 5 years of people management experience including managing managers.
Minimum of five years experience developing mission critical online services.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Master's, PhD, or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
Track record of delivering large scale software systems on time.
Have been successful working across organizational boundaries, bringing together people with diverse perspectives and experience to find solutions.
Experience building relationships and directly interacting with customers.
Strong business and technical vision.
