Major Job Duties and Responsibilities: Coordinates the design analysis and process Releases advance product components and/or line of products Diagnoses and corrects deficiencies Maintains cost controls Provides technical direction to support personnel Coordinates supportive build programs Coordinates test and/or development programs Coordinates engineering projects with other departments and/or divisions Coordinates with suppliers and/or customers on a regular basis Stays abreast of new technology Required Skills/Experience: Knowledge in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint - Intermediate level Knowledge with Lotus Notes or other email communication tool - Intermediate level Strong interpersonal skills involving ability to work effectively cross-functionally and cross-culturally Strong written and oral communication skills necessary for meetings and presentations Ability to work well with others, exhibiting teamwork skills Partners with senior management to analyze and solve issues Ability to multitask by handling diverse assignments concurrently Strong ability to make sketches, engineering drawings and common computations Strong understanding of materials, engineering theory and principles of design Familiarity with basic hand and machine tools Strong ability to use common measurement tools and techniques Position related experience - 8 years Relevant auto industry experience required - Entry level (<1 year) Past Client work experience required - Entry level (<1 year) Areas of expertise include: Testing, Design, Analysis Required Education/Training/Certifications/Licenses Bachelor of Science in Engineering Required Conditions: Suppliers agree that all candidates submitted / matched to this assignment will successfully complete the required Background Checks prior to the supplier confirming the acceptance of the assignment. Specific Responsibilities of this Position: Responsible for definition of requirements, development, and leadership of Seat Soft Trim Covers. A considerable amount of creativity and initiative are involved as well as a high level of independent judgment. * Develops, refines, and finalizes criteria and typical sections using math data * Develops and supports development of Statement Of Requirements (SOR) for Trim covers, Fabric Rolled Goods, Vinyl rolled goods, and Leather commodities * Supports/leads design and technical reviews for Seating Trim Covers and Trim Materials within the seating systems and Trim Development * Works with Design team on program specific trim interphases to Plastics, Foam and Structure* Leads/Supports PDT for component/subsystems. (e.g. timing, parts list, DFM, issue management) * Performs appropriate studies/alternatives, and supports program direction based upon cost, mass, timing, DFA, and other program imperatives * Supports JIT suppliers to develop Trim Production Design, on time, to meet program requirements. * Conducts engineering and design reviews to insure 100 percent design fidelity * Communicates information to and from internal and external customer organizations * Leads the launch of new vehicle programs for seat trim covers at the Client assembly plants and Tier 1 seating plants. * Develops and maintains cost element knowledge of seat trim covers. * Develops and maintains database of approved execution methods for seat trim integration to seating foam and seat frames.Minimum of Associate's degree or technical degree required, Bachelor's degree in textile science/textile Engineering preferred2+ years of experience in trim cover development for seatsExperience with Gerber, CAD or Catia Software preferred
