Farmers Group (Woodland Hills, CA) seeks a Policy Operational Data Subject Matter Expert III to provide expertise in the ETL design, development, and functionality of the Enterprise Operational Data Store (ODS), particularly with Personal Lines Policy data functionality. Specific duties include: responsible for the conceptual design of business applications; perform impact analysis of application changes across various components; specify and recommend integration and parallel testing criteria; understand the business objectives and how best they can be supported by IT; understand customer processes and products and their business value; act as liaison between Business and IT; support users in building Business Cases including cost/benefit analysis, risk assessment, project scope, and development of a high level plan; support implementation activities and troubleshooting system environmental issues; perform quality review checks on project deliverables; hold design reviews, oversee code reviews, and participate in project validation; estimate Rough Order of Magnitude for the level of effort and cost of new application functionality;validate suppliers estimates by reviewing effort estimates for precision and by ensuring accuracy of impacted areas; formulate and define system scope and business objectives through research and factfinding to develop or modify Operational Data Staging ODS assets; build data models and customize data extractions/integrations based on business rules while holding an endtoend view of the system; analyze and revise existing system logic and documentation for continuous improvement, quality, and optimization; building transformation rules to convert data from various lines of business; conduct training as required; and mentor lower level colleague. Position requires a Bachelors degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, or a closely related field of study, plus 5 years of experience in the job offered, or as an Assistant System Engineer Trainee, Assistant System Engineer, System Engineer, IT Analyst, Assistant Consultant, or similar position in Application Development/Testing or Business/Systems Analysis. Must have 3 years of experience working on ODS platforms and environments including development and modeling. Must also have 2 years of experience with each of the following: working in the Personal Lines Policy Insurance industry; and working on Data Warehousing platforms including development and modeling. Additionally, specific experience must include: working with Unix shell scripting, SQL, PL/SQL, Informatica Power Center including DT, Informatica Cloud, Oracle/DB2 database technologies, XML, Java, Erwin including data modeling principles or concepts, GitHub, and Autosys technologies; working with Guidewire Policy Center; working with Mainframe Application Programming; working with Agile project methodologies and SQL/ETL performance tuning concepts; developing and supporting real-time or near-real-time integration patterns including plug-in or middleware consumption; and explaining complex concepts and issues in simple terms to technical and non-technical audience.
