Responsibilities
The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) in Neurosurgery is primarily focused on the quality clinical management and total care of the neurosurgical patient including physical exams, bedside procedures, and operative duties as required. The APP will function in all areas of the peri-operative environment including preadmission, preop testing, PACU, ICU, stepdown care, outpatient clinic and other areas as designated. They will work collaboratively with the health care team including neurology, intensivists, anesthesia, nursing, case management, physical and occupational therapy and other teams involved in the care of the neurosurgical patient. Additionally, the APP will work collaboratively to educate staff on necessary competencies, new procedures and advanced practice skills. They will work with surgeons and staff to implement necessary medical aspects of care to create a high-quality patient experience and expedite discharges in a timely manner.

Garnet Health System provides a compensation range to comply with the New York State law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The range for the role is $146,000 through $164,000 annually. The range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits. When determining a team member’s compensation and/or rate, several factors may be considered as applicable (e.g., location, specialty, service line, years of relevant experience, education, credentials, negotiated contracts, budget and internal equity).
Qualifications
Minimum Education:
Graduate of an Accredited P.A. Program.
Minimum Experience:
Three-years in Neurosurgery, with OR, floor and office experience preferred.
Required Certification/Registration:
Current Physician Assistant Licensure in New York State required.
Graduate of an Accredited P.A. Program required.
Current BLS Certification preferred.
Current ACLS Certification required.
Board Certification required.
DEA registration valid and unrestricted required.
Current Opioid Prescriber Training Certificate required.
Current NY Infection Control Certificate required.
Physical Requirements:
Standing and walking most of the shift; moving patients and equipment. Mobility required. Occasional lifts, positions, restrains, pushes and/or transfers patients. Occasional reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching.
Working Conditions:
Environmental Demands and Exposure to Hazards: Works primarily inside and may occasionally work outdoors. Frequent contact with various Garnet Health staff, sales representatives, employees and community members. May be exposed to odors, chemical agents, dust, fumes, gases, sharp objects, hazardous or moving equipment, wet slippery floors, and extremes in temperature and humidity.
Physical Demands: Demonstrates physical and functional ability to perform full anatomical range of motion to accomplish tasks. Evidence of visual and aural acuity and finger and hand dexterity to operate computer and office equipment. Can withstand long periods of sitting, standing and/or constant walking. Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs and push over 75 lbs. Other physical requirements include the ability to bend, kneel, crouch, twist, balance and reach above, out and below.
