A Day in the Life
The Finance Director serves as the strategic financial leader of our Global Legal and Global HR businesses. The role is responsible for providing financial insights and decision support to the General Counsel of Medtronic and their key leaders, as well as key leaders within HR. This person will be a member of the Global Functions Finance leadership team.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.
Financial Leadership: Lead the development and execution of annual operating plan (AOP), strategic plan, and rolling forecasts for the Legal and HR functions.
Business Partnering: Serve as a trusted advisor to Legal & HR leadership, translating complex financial data into actional insights that support strategic decision making.
Performance Management: Monitor and report on key performance indicators, identify business risks and opportunities, and drive initiatives to improve revenue growth, profitability and operational efficiency.
Consolidated Reporting: Provide timely and accurate financial reporting, commentary, and analysis across Legal and HR functions, aligning global reporting processes to deliver consistent performance updates to executive leadership.
Investment Planning: Evaluate Legal and HR initiatives and investments, including business cases for major projects and transformation efforts. Ensure clear financial accountability and ROI tracking.
Team Leadership: Lead and develop a high performing finance team, fostering a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and accountability.
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree plus 10+ years of progressive financial experience (or 8+ years with an advanced degree) plus 7+ years of managerial experience
Nice to Have:
5+ years in FP&A leadership roles
Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting; MBA and/or CPA preferred
Experience in global, matrixed organizations and healthcare or life sciences industries
Skilled in tools like Hyperion, SAP, Tableau, or Power BI
Strong financial modeling, business acumen, and analytical skills
Proven track record in process improvement and driving insights from data
Exceptional communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
Ability to influence cross-functional teams and drive change
Strong people management skills—leads by example and motivates others
Resilient, adaptable, and able to manage deadlines and priorities
