Bolivar Medical Center

Provides direct and indirect patient care in the Medical/ Surgical setting utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation. Meets the physical, psychosocial, religious/cultural and needs of the patient and family. Communicates effectively with all members of the health care team as appropriate about changes in the patients condition or response to treatment.

Job Requirements

Performs a head-to-toe assessment on all patients and reassessments as per policy.

Assesses and reassesses pain; utilizes appropriate pain management techniques; educates the patient and family regarding pain management.

Performs patient care responsibilities considering needs specific to the standard of care for the patients age.

Demonstrates knowledge of medications and their correct administration based on the age of the

patient and the patients clinical condition.

Follows the 6 rights of medication administration to reduce the potential for medication errors

Formulates, implements and revises the patients plan of care based on the patients diagnosis and clinical symptoms.

Formulates, implements and revises the patients educational plan.

Assists physicians with procedures and performs services

requiring technical and manual skills.

Performs treatments and provides services to the level of licensure.

Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of errors.

Coordinates and supervises patient care.

Meets current documentation standards and policies.

Treats patients and their families with respect and dignity. Identifies and addresses psychosocial,

cultural, ethnic and religious/spiritual needs of the patients and their families.

Notifies physicians in a timely manner of changes in the patients condition and response to

treatment.

Manages and operates equipment safely and correctly.

Educates patient and family on disease process.

Follows infection control polices.

Follows all evidence-based medicine and core measures, as supported by Central Carolina

Hospital

Utilizes supplies and resources in a cost effective manner.
