The Lead Technician – Facilities is responsible for overseeing and coordinating all technical maintenance activities within assigned facilities.  This role leads, directs, assigns, and monitors the work of other technicians and third-party contractors to ensure operational continuity and compliance with all safety and regulatory standards. The Lead Technician serves as the building lead, ensuring timely task completion, proper communication across shifts, and accurate documentation in the maintenance management system. This role requires expertise in maintaining, altering, repairing, and operating a wide range of facilities systems and equipment.

Summary of responsibilities (not comprehensive of all tasks):

Assign, lead, and direct the daily activities of technicians and third-party project contractors
Escort and supervise external contractors while on-site; approve completed work
Ensure all assigned tasks are completed and results are reported to management promptly
Communicate incomplete tasks to the next shift and update the maintenance management system daily
Maintain, alter, repair, assemble, and install all equipment and systems related to facilities infrastructure
Ensure continuous reliability and performance of facility operations through preventative and corrective maintenance
Adhere to all local, state, and federal regulations and organizational policies including safety and environmental compliance

Operate and maintain systems including:

HVAC and Chilled/Hot Water Systems
Refrigeration units and pumps
Fire protection and basis plumbing systems
Electrical systems (50V to 13,800V)

Emergency/back-up generators and transfer switches
Perform basic structural repairs to maintain the facility’s physical appearance
Monitor and operate Building Management Systems (BMS) and maintain associated logs
Ensure compliance with all required regulatory and safety training
Work in confined spaces and at heights exceeding 75 feet
Lift up to 75 pounds safely as part of daily responsibilities

What you need to succeed (minimum qualifications)

Valid Driver’s license
Experience as a facilities technician with lead responsibilities
Working knowledge of mechanical and/or electrical systems
Ability to perform maintenance on HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and fire protection systems
Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and work in physically demanding environments
Must hold or obtain any licenses required by local or state authorities for building lead responsibility

What will give you a competitive edge (preferred qualifications)

Associate’s degree or technical certification in facilities maintenance or related field
5+ years of experience in facilities operations or plant maintenance, with 2+ years in a lead or supervisory capacity
Prior experience maintaining commercial/industrial infrastructure for an airline or large-scale facility
Familiarity with Delta Airlines systems
OSHA 10/30- hour safety training or equivalent certifications
Universal EPA Certification (Refrigeration)
