Summary:
Plans, directs, controls, coordinates and evaluates all or most inventory planning and control activities (i.e. master scheduling, stocking, inventory planning/turnover, materials handling, and forecasting). Manages inventory replenishment based on production schedules, current inventory, customer orders and forecasts. Ensures accurate and current inventory records. Coordinates, consults and makes recommendations regarding inventory levels to improve service levels, while simultaneously reducing inventory to the lowest acceptable levels. Production planning participation. Annual Budget plan participation. Consults with division financial, purchasing, engineering and operations personnel regarding business level forecasts, inventory reserves, and other factors which may affect inventory as well to ensure inventory meets design and customer requirements. Determines inventory cycles, oversees stock rotation and disposal of outdated stock. Handles special projects, as assigned.
Job Duties/Responsibilities
Provide sales support for designated products.
Establish and maintain inventory levels that meet company goals as well as meeting customer service requirements.
Establish a program to reduce overstock of material.
Establish a program to reduce non-moving or slow moving inventory.
Establish a program to reduce obsolete inventory.
Maintain up-to-date and accurate cost lists.
Maintain accurate descriptions in AS/400 system, revising as necessary
Provide purchasing, expediting, and payment services related to all inventory products.
Establish and maintain supplier relationships to ensure open and reliable communications.
Purchase inventory to meet inventory levels.
Maintain all purchase orders for inventory.
Negotiate with suppliers for best price, delivery, service and quality
Create competitive environment with vendors to reduce costs and lead times.
Expedite to maintain delivery commitments.
Participate in supplier selection, product line expansion/reduction, contract negotiations, etc.
Arrange payments to suppliers and ensure accuracy of those payments.
Manage control of all materials as pertains to job cost accounting.
Manage all purchasing functions including shipping and receiving.
Participate in production planning.
Review job cost reports to ensure that the proper material is consumed from inventory.
Conduct inventory audits for Finished Goods, Work in Process, and Raw Materials, and have the ability to review, provide results, and an overall resolution.
Develop controls for warehouse material to provide better accuracy without slowing down production and shipping.
Improve JIT through vendor relationships and mid-max levels.
Utilize economic order quantities and select safety stock levels.
Establish processes to improve the flow of paperwork and invoicing.
