About the opportunity: As Privacy Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in partnering with our Product & Technology Team to embed privacy principles into the design and development of Dayforce products and systems to maintain the trust of our customers and comply with applicable privacy laws and regulations.  You will work closely with our product, engineering, data governance, cybersecurity, legal and risk teams, to build, maintain, and enhance our data protection frameworkand assessment processes, carry out privacy risk assessments, and develop strategies to mitigate data privacy risks. This position requires a deep understanding of global privacy principles, strong technical acumen, and the ability to translate legal and regulatory requirements into technical specifications.  

What you’ll get to do  

Collaborate with our Product & Technology and Cybersecurity teams to embed privacy into the design of products, services, and software development processes, to help ensure privacy is a key quality attribute of all of our products. 

Ensure systems and applications are designed with data minimization, purpose limitation, and other key privacy principles in mind. 

Work closely with privacy counsel, Chief Privacy Officer, and compliance teams to define and implement privacy controls that meet internal privacy standards and global regulatory requirements. 

Develop and/or implement tools to monitor and report on compliance with such standards and requirements. 

Manage and operationalize privacy product reviews and data protection impact assessments to identify and mitigate privacy risks in projects and initiatives. 

Provide actionable recommendations to mitigate risks and ensure compliance with internal privacy standards and applicable privacy regulations such as GDPR, CCPA, PIPEDA, etc., as well as standards such as ISO 27701. 

Work closely with the Data Governance team regarding implementation of best practices for data anonymization, pseudonymization, and other means for protecting PI. 

Evaluate and advise on use of emerging privacy enhancing technology. 

Stay current with evolving privacy technologies and regulatory changes and share insights with key stakeholders. 

Serve as a primary liaison between the Product and Technology Team and the broader privacy team to ensure that as the privacy program matures, we enable developers to build and deploy quickly without compromising privacy.  

Focus on privacy process efficiencies and automation, prioritizing advanced tasks to keep pace with product demand. 

Skills and experience we value  

Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, information technology, cybersecurity, or a related field.  

Certified Information Privacy Technologist (CIPT) or Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) is highly desirable. 

5+ years of experience in privacy engineering, data protection, application security or a related technical field. 

Strong understanding of privacy laws and regulations (GDPR, CCPA, etc.)and standards such as ISO 27001, 27701 and SOC 2. 

Experience with data security and privacy enhancing technologies. 

Knowledge of cloud infrastructure and data management tools. 

Experience conducting privacy product reviews and data protection impact assessments; identifying privacy risks and vulnerabilities in products and working closely with product and technology teams to design solutions.  

Experience evaluating the privacy impact of AI-based products and services. 

Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills. 

Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical information for non-technical stakeholders and privacy/legal concepts for technical stakeholders. 

The ability to work independently and as a member of a global team, in a fast-paced and changing business environment. 

Experience building and maintaining effective relationships with cross-functional stakeholders in a remote-first work environment.  

Excellent sense of humor. 

What would make you really stand out  

Demonstrated experience designing and implementing new processes, procedures and/or technology to operationalize privacy within an organization.  

Enjoyment in untangling complexity. 

Bonus points for experience with .NET, C#, Java, Python, basic knowledge of modern relational database architecture and SQL, and/orDevOps experience with infrastructure, cloud and application pipelines.
