PRIMARY OBJECTIVE
To provide wrapping, stocking and customer service support for the Bakery Department required for meet the daily sales and to ensure a positive shopping experience for customers
NATURE AND SCOPE
Primary emphasis in this position is on meeting daily needs in preparing, stocking and displaying product in order to ensure maximum department sales, product availability and provide high level of customer service. Primary challenges are product knowledge, sequence of workflow and production speed. This position requires knowledge of bakery product preparation, food safety regulations, ongoing social skills/verbal interaction, reading, walking, standing, moderate lifting, and operation of finishing and wrapping equipment. Position functions and work hours may vary according to business needs. Assignments and work direction provided by Bakery Manager or person in charge.
ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS
1. Assist customers
- Greet customers
- Answer customer questions; provides product sampling and suggestive selling
- Bring customers to location of item, when needed
- Assists with product replacement and price checks
- Answer bakery telephone calls promptly
- Records cake orders accurately and completely
- Assist at check out lanes as needed
- Perform price checks check out lanes

2. Prepare and wrap bakery product
- Follow safe food handling and preparation processes
- Apply icing, glazes, or drizzles as required
- Prepare cakes; applies decoration as requested
- Slice and bag bread and buns
- Transfer product to trays or containers
- Shrink wrap when appropriate
- Accurately labels and prices all wrapped product

3. Stock, rotate and face bakery product
- Pull stales and writes down product, quantity and retail
- Prepare sales area by cleaning cases and bins
- Rotate and faces product
- Stock shelves, bins and cases
- Check price and verify sign and product price

4. Assist with department merchandising as directed
- Build and maintains department displays
- Decorate the department
- Assist with seasonal resets
- Maintain cross-merchandised product throughout the store
- Assist in maintaining proper signage

5. Perform clean up of department
- Follow all safety, sanitation and food handling regulations
- Assist with breaking down and cleaning equipment
- Assist in cleaning department and maintains conditions in the back room
- Assist with department shop back functions
- Clean shelves, racking and cases as needed
- Uses personal protective devices (splash goggles, chemical resistant gloves) as required
