The Recreational Therapist provides recreational therapeutic activities to patients admitted to the inpatient behavioral health unit at Baptist Health Hardin.

The recreational therapist works with patients who are facing mental health, substance use disorders and dual diagnoses to set goals and improve activity of daily living.

The recreational therapist assists patients in participating in activities aimed to improve physical, mental, emotional, and behavioral health through creative techniques, practices, and outlets.

The recreational therapist engages with patients both individually and leads group settings. Participates in treatment team staffing and collaborates with treatment team as needed. The recreational therapist can provide activities to patients receiving hospital-based services throughout the behavioral health service line.

Requirements:

High school diploma/GED (or higher) required.

One year of experience in recreation therapy required.

Certification in the state of KY as a Recreation Therapist is required within one year of hire.

BLS from American Heart Association (AHA) – required within 90 days of hire

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor or master’s degree in Recreational Management, Therapeutic Recreation or related field preferred.

Behavioral Health or Acute Healthcare setting experience preferred.
