We are looking for an early career or experienced candidate who will own patent paralegal prosecution duties, utilizing broad knowledge of patent prosecution procedures, databases, functions, general operating methods and policies of TI’s Law Department and the company. Must be a team player with a positive, professional attitude, have strong follow-up skills, strong attention to detail, and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
About the Job
Responsible for assisting attorneys in executing legal transactions for intellectual property, and securing, preparing, drafting, and processing legal documents at a more senior level. Files documents with appropriate entities in accordance with legal requirements. May docket patent, trademark, and copyright deadlines and check docketing accuracy. Completes tasks or activities supporting implementation of procedures. Requires knowledge of office automation equipment/software related to activities.
Monitor patent docket for timely response to deadlines
Provide full-docket paralegal support to patent lawyers and other patent activity
Assist with the preparation of patent applications, responses to office actions and related documents and correspondence
Electronically file patent applications and responses with the USPTO
Review of correspondence from outside counsel
Administratively coordinate a patent committee
Interact effectively with inventors, invention reviewers, outside counsel and USPTO personnel
Utilize USPTO procedures relating to patent application prosecution; record keeping and follow-ups
Effectively interact with databases (e.g., Anaqua, ClaimMaster, Excel) toupdate records and create law department and business unit reports
Maintain patent files
Other general duties as assigned
Qualifications
Minimum requirements:
High School Diploma
1 years of relevant experience
Experience with Microsoft Office Suite
Preferred qualifications:
1 years of recent Patent Prosecution paralegal experience and/or IP paralegal training
Excellent time management, multi-tasking, analytical and organizational skills
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
Excellent ethics and integrity; demonstrated ability to maintain highest level of confidentiality
Accuracy in work product with excellent proofreading skills
Excellent troubleshooting and follow-up skills
Ability to act independently using solid judgment
Exhibit professionalism and work in a team-oriented environment
Solid understanding of patent intellectual property
Self-starter with the ability to work with minimum supervision
