Position Summary:

Working closely in support of business unit leadership and with Legal, Procurement, and other cross-functional corporate stakeholders. The Human Rights Specialist supports procurement of bulk and specialty commodities in compliance with legal requirements and company policies and commitments.  The role supports the sustainability organization by monitoring and assessing global human rights regulations and supplier requirements as well as developing and evaluating risk ranking profiles for company supply chains. This position will apply their knowledge and communications skills to drive improvements in the company’s social and human rights program, reputation, and rating and ranking scores.

Job Responsibilities:
 

Develop, Manage and maintain expertise global human rights regulations and supplier expectations.
Develop risk assessments to identify implementation priority and drive roll-out of human rights due diligence program.
Monitor and benchmark reporting trends and changes to reporting standards and supplier expectations to provide insights and recommendations on advancing company’s communication of human rights program implementation.
Work with buyers and business units to develop sustainable sourcing codes for products identified as high risk.
Identify potential charitable or not-for-profit projects and programs in our high risk supply sheds that share similar goals to recommend to business units and ADM Cares.
Assist with Sedex, BSCI, SA8000 and other audit assessments and comparisons.
Assist with data collection for quarterly Board of Directors and Executive Management reporting, annual and semi-annual sustainability reports, and rating/ranking questionnaires.
Complete human rights update reports and maintain other documentation as necessary for website.
Any other responsibilities, as may be considered necessary to support and advise management on ADM’s sustainability efforts.
Build strategic and technical capabilities with Manufacturing, Procurement, Responsible Sourcing and suppliers, connecting them with tools, training and industry forums. Advise on material sustainability issues for high-risk human rights and deforestation priority commodity categories, supporting category strategy development and supplier engagement. Lead related human rights reporting framework management.
Develop and execute training on strategy programs and risks

Job Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree with Sustainability, Environmental Science, Human Rights, or related field preferred.
8+ years of supply chain Management experience
Experience in a corporate setting with focus on environmental, sustainability or related field
Experience with and knowledge of social reporting standards and audit methodologies including GRI, Sedex, BSCI, SA8000, etc.
Experience and/or exposure with ratings/ranking agencies and associated players
Experience collecting and organizing data from multiple sources
Validated strong problem-solving skills, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis
Microsoft Office Skills – PowerPoint, Word, Excel
Ability to grasp concepts quickly and exercise follow-through skills, adhere to a work schedule and address challenges as they arise.
Must be proficient in English, although knowledge of another language would be beneficial.
Experience working in or supporting an international business is preferred.
High level of motivation, team-player attitude, and results-oriented way of working.
15-30% travel estimated
