ABOUT THE ROLE
Fox is hiring a Director, Site Reliability Engineering to manage and own the infrastructure and platform to support APIs around our live direct to consumer video APIs for events such as the Super Bowl, World Cup, and World Series. The Director will be ultimately responsible for the throughput of the Platform Engineering team and the implementation and operation of the platform. The Director will need to partner with multiple teams from the application team to finance to 3rd party partners to be successful.
A collaborative, peacemaker mindset is a must while fostering a culture of learning and continuous improvement for the team. The ideal candidate should have excellent people management, project management, workflow visualization and conceptualization skills as well as a technical background.
A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for the implementation and operation of cloud infrastructure and EKS-based platform supporting direct to consumer APIs to solve thundering herd problems associated with live events
Work closely with Video & Player Engineering and 3rd party partners to enable scalability, cost visibility and observability throughout the platform
Conceptualize and develop a culture of learning and continuous improvement within the Site Reliability Engineering team
Manage expectations for project and team deliverables, manage stakeholder communications, and help drive an effective system of project status tracking
Create visibility and confidence in project delivery timelines, as well as a working environment where the team can be focused, efficient, and creative
Proactively identify and implement quality and change control procedures to ensure that all executions are complete, error-free, produced according to established standards and delivered on time
Implement on-call and support coverage schedules for live and crown jewel events throughout the year
Be fluid and open to change and evolving processes and tools

WHAT YOU WILL NEED
Experience working in a large enterprise IT setting
Strong manager with experience in managing up and managing out when required
Strong abstract reasoning and ability to conceptualize systems and processes
Strong communication and cross-functional skills, with the ability to engage, listen, and collaborate with internal departments/teams to align from strategy through execution
Engineering background with understanding of EKS and related cloud concepts and underlying technologies
Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks and visualize workflows
A self-starter, able to take initiative and work independently
Highly motivated with strong work ethic and an aptitude for problem-solving
Collaborative working style and team-player attitude
Strong decision-making abilities along with creative, project and time management skills
