Job Description

Visa University is seeking a visionary and experienced technology professional to join our organization as the Senior Director – Learning Technology. This strategic role will be responsible for transforming business requirements into innovative technology solutions that enhance efficiency, improve customer satisfaction, and optimize learner experience. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of human-centered design principles and possess strong skills in leveraging technology to drive innovation and business growth. 

In this role you will oversee the evolving technology stack that supports scalable production, delivery and sales of Visa University’s learning products and subscriptions for Visa’s clients and other external learners. In partnership with Visa University and tech leaders, you will be responsible for planning a cohesive and coordinated technical product roadmap, comprehensive strategy, and enabling execution of deliverables.  

The ideal candidate will have experience working in an agile environment and be able to thrive in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment. He or she will be responsible for managing the product backlog, writing user stories, and working with the development team to ensure that features are delivered on time and meet customer expectations.? 

Key Functions 

Strategy and Vision: 

Develop and execute a strategic global roadmap for the learning systems technology function, aligning it with the organization's external learning objectives and business goals. 

Stay abreast of emerging trends and advancements in learning technologies, data analytics, and system integration, and provide guidance on their application to enhance learning outcomes. 

Collaborate with key stakeholders to identify business objectives, learner needs, and customer requirements. 

Manage the Visa University external learning portfolio by driving focus, speed to market, prioritization, and strategic direction for the roadmap, net-new products, product enhancements, and product development requirements. 

Champion human centered design methodologies, innovate, and orchestrate change through design thinking and dedication to product quality. 

Ensure technology solutions are user-friendly, intuitive, and deliver a seamless experience. 

Become the expert, strategic thinker and leader for Visa University’s external learning technology stack. 

Create strategic alliances with relevant stakeholders and vendors to make communication seamless across the product development process and to ensure partners views are heard and valued. 

Solution Development and Implementation: 

Lead the strategy and product design of innovative technology solutions that address specific business requirements, improve efficiency, and optimize the learner experience. 

Drive the evolution of the product by delivering enhancements to improve usability and accessibility to content, streamline the purchasing experience, and deliver effective programs and functional capabilities that will support revenue targets and increase the scalability and viability of VisaUniversity.com 

Drive Collaboration across cross-functional teams, including Visa University, Instructional Design, Technology and others to ensure the successful implementation of learning technology initiatives. 

Identify and evaluate external vendors or partners as necessary, ensuring their alignment with business goals and commitment to excellence. 

Partner with Project Management Office (PMO) in the development and management of project plans, budgets, and timelines to ensure the successful delivery of technology solutions. 

Agile Product Management: 

Define features, epics, and user stories in collaboration with the development team and stakeholders, ensuring that they are properly prioritized in the product backlog? 

Create detailed acceptance criteria for each user story to ensure that the development team understands the desired outcome 

Partner with Scrum Master to monitor the progress of the development team and provide feedback and direction as needed to ensure that the team is on track to meet sprint goals? 

Be the point of contact for all questions related to the product, working with the development team, stakeholders, and customers to resolve any issues? 

Adjust the product roadmap and backlog as necessary based on feedback from stakeholders, customers, and the development team? 

Participate in Agile ceremonies such as stand-ups, sprint demo, retrospectives, and sprint planning? 

Partner with Business and Tech teams to drive successful execution of user acceptance testing 

Technology Assessment and Integration: 

Conduct comprehensive reviews assessments of existing learning-related technology stack, identifying areas for improvement, optimization and evolution. 

Evaluate and recommend external learning technology platforms, tools, and systems that enhance efficiency, customer satisfaction, and learner engagement. 

Collaborate with internal Technology teams and PMO to integrate and customize learning technology solutions within existing systems and workflows. 

Work closely with business owners to gather/create detailed business requirements which you subsequently convert to functional requirements that developers use to create solutions. 

System Integration and Interoperability: 

Work closely with Technology teams to integrate learning-related systems with other enterprise systems, ensuring seamless data flow, accuracy, interoperability and great customer experience. 

Partner on evaluation and enablement of integrations, APIs, and single sign-on solutions to enhance the learner experience and streamline administrative processes. 

User Experience Optimization: 

Champion a user-centric approach, applying human-centered design principles to ensure technology solutions are intuitive, engaging, and aligned with user needs. 

Conduct user research, usability testing, and feedback analysis to continuously improve the user experience. 

Lead collaboration with key stakeholders to create a vision and plan to ensure the seamless integration of learning content, operation process and technology solutions. 

Team Leadership and Collaboration: 

Build and lead a high-performance team of learning technology professionals for product management. Communicate technology mission, vision and team member roles in a way that helps them optimize their participation, provides them opportunities to grow and enhances their career experience. 

Foster collaboration with cross-functional teams, including Visa University leaders, Technology, PMO, and business leaders, to drive alignment and ensure effective implementation of learning technology initiatives. 

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

12 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 10 years of work experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters/MBA /JD/MD), or a minimum of 5 years of work experience with a PhD

Preferred Qualifications

15 or more years of experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or 12 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, or MD), PhD with 9+ years of experience
Hands-on experience as a senior business systems leader or lead product manager role delivering or implementing enterprise Learning technology solutions
10 or more years of experience eliciting and gathering business requirements, including proven experience with:
Working with business owners to gather/create detailed business requirements
Working with developers to help them understand business requirements from a functional standpoint.
Writing user stories
Creating process flows
Gap Analysis
Impact Analysis
5 or more years of experience creating and executing on project plans, tracking dates/status and providing project updates to peers and senior leadership
Experience working with agile methodology and tools, such as JIRA
Relevant experience in the software development life cycle (plan, analyze, design, implement, maintain) including systems testing which includes corner cases and unusual scenarios
Expert at documenting current and future state process, challenging the status quo and looking across functions for ways to automate and reduce manual work
Extraordinary communication and translation skills where clearly articulating technology concepts simplifies the needs required across a different group of stakeholders
Deep functional experience with?Learning domains?and functions (you understand what it takes to make Learning functions successful because of your hands-on experience learning-related tech stacks.
Expert storyteller with proven experience building and presenting to senior leadership on complex themes.
Extensive experience in building and/or architecting custom Learning systems with multiple integration requirements, either in a start-up or corporate environment
Progressive experience in end-to-end product management in software or web technologies, including director or senior director level roles

Additional Information

Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department.

Travel Requirements: This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.

Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting.  The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.
