Senior Security Architect - Remote

Job Description

PURPOSE:

The Senior Security Architect is responsible for leading the design and championing secure solutions for our organization. You will play a critical role in defining and driving the company's security architecture, ensuring it aligns with business requirements and the organization's risk management framework. This role requires a deep understanding of network architectures, firewalls, data loss prevention, threat modeling, security audits, and compliance standards.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Develop and design security models and architectures that meet the organization's strategic objectives and risk tolerance
Assess and identify areas of vulnerability within the organization’s network and system infrastructure. Provide solutions to address these risks.
Ensure that all systems and applications are designed with appropriate security controls to mitigate identified risks
Develop and implement security standards, procedures, and guidelines for multiple platforms and diverse system environments.
Conduct research on emerging security threats and technologies in support of security enhancement and development efforts.
Work closely with IT leadership and stakeholders to communicate security strategies and plans
Participate in the risk assessment process and help design risk mitigation strategies
Provide technical supervision for (and guidance to) a security team.
Deliver regular reports to leadership and stakeholders on security metrics, issues, and resolutions.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Education/ Certifications/or Equivalent combination of education training and experience:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, or a related field is preferred but not required
CISSP, CISM, or similar certification is a plus but not required

Experience:

A minimum of 6-10 years of experience in a security architect role within an enterprise environment.
Profound knowledge of industry standards like ISO 27001, NIST, and others.
Certifications such as CISSP, CISM, SABSA, or equivalent are strongly desired
Demonstrated experience with enterprise architecture and working as part of a cross-functional team to implement solutions.
Strong understanding of network architectures, firewalls, data loss prevention, threat modeling, and other relevant areas.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex security topics to non-technical staff.
Strong analytical, evaluative, and problem-solving abilities.

Knowledge/ Skills/ Abilities:

Solid understanding of cloud architecture and security principles.
Hands-on experience with security technologies, including intrusion detection systems, anti-virus software, authentication systems, log management, content filtering, etc.
Ability to understand complex problems and to collaborate and explore alternative solutions.
Proficiency in analyzing security systems and developing new strategies for minimizing risks.
Aptitude for identifying, understanding, and addressing gaps in the security architecture.
Familiarity with legal and regulatory requirements related to information security, privacy, and data security.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex security topics to both technical and non-technical colleagues.
Strong leadership and consensus-building skills with a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and effectively with a range of stakeholders.
Exceptional planning and organizational skills, capable of balancing and prioritizing multiple tasks simultaneously.
Proactive approach to staying up to date on the latest intelligence.
Understands the balance between security requirements and other business needs and can effectively communicate this balance to stakeholders.

Most work is performed in a temperature-controlled office environment Incumbent may sit for long periods of time at desk or computer terminal
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
Incumbent may use calculators, keyboards, telephone, and other office equipment in the course of normal workday
Stooping, bending, twisting, and reaching may be required in completion of job duties
