Job Description

The Mechanical/Process Engineer provides technical support with developing processes and systems to solve production opportunities. This position will embrace Industry 4.0 and will be a catalyst for the quick development and implementation of I4.0 projects in our Plant. This position will ensure that our Plant maintains the highest levels of resource productivity and efficiency, while remaining agile and highly responsive to our customer needs. The Mechanical/Process Engineer lead and project manage projects that provide innovation solutions and improvement to the Plant’s manufacturing centers.

Job Duties:

Demonstrate the ability to work safely and effectively while supporting the safety goals of the Plant.
Ability to effectively advise management of product conformance, capability issues, and provide fact -based recommendations for improvement and problem resolution.
Designs mechanical and automated-electromechanical products and systems by developing and testing specifications and methods.
Optimize processes, shorten cycle times, improve quality, reduce energy losses, shortens downtimes, and improve overall equipment effectiveness.
Evaluates mechanical and automated-electromechanical systems and products by designing and conducting research programs and applying principles of mechanics, thermodynamics, hydraulics, heat transfer, and materials.
Confirms system and product capabilities by designing and conducting feasibility studies and testing methods and properties.
Develops mechanical and automated-electromechanical products by studying customer requirements; researching and testing manufacturing and assembly methods and materials; and soliciting observations from operators.
Develops manufacturing processes by designing and modifying equipment for fabricating, building, assembling, and installing components.
Manages subcontractors who aid in the designing, construction, and implementation of projects.
Writes capital expenditure approval documents and secures funding for projects.
Provide data for the justification of capital expenditures.
Assures system and product quality by designing testing methods; testing finished product and system capabilities; and confirming fabrication, assembly, and installation processes.
Prepares product reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing process information and trends.
Maintains product and company reputation by complying with regulations.
Keeps equipment operational by coordinating maintenance and repair services; following manufacturer’s instructions and established procedures; and requesting special services.
Maintains system and product data base by writing computer programs and entering data.
Completes projects by training and guiding technicians.
Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, participating in professional societies.
Review and validate SOP’s to ensure accuracy to current processes.
Ability to work on the production floor with employees to train, root cause concerns and assist in implementing corrective actions.
Provide mentoring and training to the required personnel as needed.
Perform other tasks as required by management.

Job Requirements/Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or other technical discipline.  
Able to embrace Industry i4.0 principles.
Strong experience with automation.
5+ years of professional engineering experience in a manufacturing setting.
Superior computer skills, with solid experience in CAD, CAM and Matlab/LabView, MiniTab, or similar programs.
Ability to develop and document clear and comprehensive technical documentation.
Highly analytical mind, with exceptional problem-solving skills.
