Description

If you are selected as the Production Engineer, you will provide direct support to the operations in the Delaware Basin East (Lea County, NM) area. You will maintain positive relationships with geoscience, land, operations, wells, and reservoir engineering teams.

In the Production Engineer position, you will provide technical expertise and engineering designs/procedures focused on optimizing production from base wells; artificial lift design and optimization; remedial stimulation, artificial lift repairs and workovers; and implementation of development programs including the artificial lift design of new wells.

You may be eligible for the voluntary hybrid office work (HOW) program that is designed to provide employees with flexibility while maintaining the advantages of in-person engagement.

Your responsibilities may include:

Owner of all production engineering responsibilities for assigned area
Must be able to write complex procedures that adhere to our corporate SOPs for well intervention
Oversee & interpret existing well production data
Identify, pursue, and support down hole optimization opportunities and work closely with Facilities on surface opportunities.
Create cost estimates and AFEs to support workovers, P&A, and activities
Assess innovative optimization opportunities for implementation
Root cause of failure analysis to drive continuous improvement in artificial lift reliability
Identify, select, design the artificial lift equipment needed, down hole and surface equipment
Communicate daily with field – support and lead in the day-to-day business – support and lead the development activities (design and implementation)
Participate and advise on workover activities with varying degrees of complexity
Support field Production Operations staff on technical issues including regulatory compliance matters and lease requirements
Pursue operating cost reductions to improve LOE efficiencies
Lead base volume budget and lease operating expense budgets and support development of the region's capital budget
Prepare robust economic evaluations for operating capital and expense production projects
Oversee chemical program for assigned area and develop/review appropriate KPIs in conjunction with chemical focal points
Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal COP ESG directives
Comply and become familiar with HSE policies

Basic/Required:

Must be legally authorized to work in the United States as a U.S. citizen or national, or an alien admitted as a permanent resident, refugee or asylee
Current/Valid Driver's License
Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering, other related business field, other related technical field, or foreign equivalent
3+ years of experience in the upstream oil and gas industry
1+ years of direct experience as a Reservoir, Facility, Completions, and/or Production Engineer
Willing and able (with or without reasonable accommodation) to travel 10% of the time on a yearly basis

Preferred:

5+ years of direct experience as an Engineer in the oil and gas industry
1+ years of experience with software packages including but not limited to: economic evaluation software, ValNav, PowerBI, Spotfire, Rodstar, Wellview, XSPOC
Intermediate level of knowledge of artificial lift methods, especially rod pumps, gas lift, and ESP. Ability to size, monitor, optimize, evaluate, and trouble shoot different artificial lift methods
Intermediate level of knowledge of well completions, production operations and workover operations
Beginner level of knowledge of well performance analysis (RTA), decline/rate-time analysis, economics analysis
