Savannah River Mission Completion (SRMC) is seeking Fire Protection Engineers to be based in our Aiken, SC location on the Savannah River Site.

The Fire Protection Engineer implements comprehensive fire protection solutions to ensure a highly protected level of risk is achieved for liquid waste mission facilities at the Department of Energy (DOE) Savannah River Site.
Providing support for the SRMC Fire Protection Program to ensure the safety of all liquid waste facilities and personnel
Applying knowledge of fire protection engineering, processes, and procedures to liquid waste projects
Providing NFPA code and standard technical guidance for various SRMC activities
Performing or assisting in the analysis of fire hazards in SRMC owned facilities
Reviewing fire protection system designs and modifications for compliance with applicable fire protection codes and standards
Reviewing building modifications for compliance with applicable fire protection codes and standards
Developing Fire Protection Engineering Evaluations supporting position papers, technical code interpretations, and equivalencies
Reviewing fire protection system inspection, testing, and maintenance procedures
Performing assessments of SRMC facilities to ensure fire risks have been mitigated
Assisting facility corrective actions for fire protection issues and establishing any necessary compensatory actions to maintain an adequate level of safety until issues are resolved
Supporting the development of Fire Protection Program plans and procedures
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university

Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Fire Protection Engineering
Understanding of fire protection codes and standards (NFPA, ICC, etc.)
Professional engineering experience
Experience being in responsible charge of diverse fire protection engineering work or experience providing fire protection engineering support within the Department of Energy
Sound technical knowledge base of discipline’s standard concepts, principles, and techniques with the ability to apply formal training
Solid problem solving skills
Able to communicate in a clear and professional manner with various levels of employees to include explaining technical details to a non-technical person
GPA of 2.8 or higher (please list GPA in the profile)

Savannah River Remediation LLC, a prime contractor for the US Department of Energy, is responsible for managing the Department of Energy’s Savannah River Site’s Liquid Waste operations contract. Located in Aiken, South Carolina, SRR is a limited liability company formed by nuclear operations and environmental remediation global leaders Amentum, Bechtel, BWXT, and Jacobs. The SRR Team is responsible for the closure of waste tanks, the operation of the Savannah River Site’s Defense Waste Processing Facility, tank farm operations and associated production and disposal facilities.
