International Paper’s Lynchburg Container Plant located at 3491 Mayflower Drive, Lynchburg, VA 24501, is a manufacturer of corrugated packaging. This position will assists operators in processing corrugated sheets according to written specifications/diagrams and prepares product for the next operation. The successful candidate for the General Laborer classification must be able to:
Abide by safe working practices and policies, work safely, and wear necessary personal protective equipment
Pass a pre-employment test, drug screen, health assessment and background check
Have at least 6 months of manufacturing experience
Work first shift (7am – 3pm), second-shift (3pm – 11pm), or third shift (11pm – 7am) with overtime
Work cooperatively with peers and supervisors and have a good attitude with willingness to learn
Work independently as well as in a team environment
Must be able to lift and mount print plates, cutting dies and ink buckets weighing up to approximately 50 pounds. Must be able to safely use wrenches for setting pull collars and slotting/scoring heads.
Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with no air conditioning or heat
Constant standing, walking and reaching at or below shoulder level, frequent twisting, bending and lifting from the ground, repetitive lifting up to 20-50 pounds
Have strong problem solving abilities and attention to detail
Extract and input data via computer and perform and record accurate reading of measurements
